Generally, new companies tend to post some actual information when they want people to check out their games.

Can't be bothered to tell us about your game and show pics?

Then I can't be bothered to go to your website.

At the very least an elevator pitch would help immensely, as I cannot find any solid info on your site.

I missed wargaming forums lol. All fair points. I'll give you a quick bulleted list with more to come soon.

  • Skirmish rule set for use with any set of figures

  • Hard science fiction setting about 300 years into man's future.

  • 12 factions featured

  • Alternating unit activation

  • 10 sided dice system

  • Deeper tactical options than what you might be used to with 40k.

  • I don't want to give too much away before it launches I just want to plant some seeds here and there. Thanks!

I guess you don't want to build hype, or interest then? I mean, far as I know your selling point is the rules here, is it not? If so, you'd probably want people to see it...

Anyways, good luck with your endeavour.

Thanks for the good luck. I'm not the best at building hype but I try! Hopefully the game will speak for itself. It launched today and you can find it at https://www.createspace.com/5973920

Despite the spam first post, I took a look anyways since at least it was eventually followed up with a "teaser" post. $40 for a 160 pg b&w trade paperback ruleset from a new company with no previews of the rules or art inside? Pass. And as for not trying to give away "too much", there is more info above about the actual rules than in the actual store. You can even enlarge the tiny thumbnail of the cover (the only art presented) gauge the quality.

OP, I know you've already started slagging "forum" and specifically dakka because the reception to your original spam post justafiably wasn't positive but I hope you take the above as constructive criticism before you launch/advertise this elsewhere. You probably (hopefully) put alot of effort into this but it simply doesn't show either in the tiny glimpse of the product we are given nor the method you've chosen to market it.

He's saying that he looked and didn't see anything to convince him to pay up forty bucks sight unseen.

I kind of agree. What makes this game worth the price tag? How does it play? How does it look inside?

Unless I can see more, I can't really be much interested.

The book features 12 original factions. A hard science fiction background story. A d10 based combat system with alternating unit activation and rules supporting a plethora of different tactical styles. I would urge you to read our blog roll, haunt it a bit before you buy. Join our forum. I wrote the game so what specifically do you want to know?

Batrep with pics would be a good start.

That's how i always decide if I'm buying into a new system, reading batreps. Well that and positive word of mouth.

    Thanks for the answer, evilrtc.

    Well, let's see:

    - The book having 12 original factions doesn't really tells me much about the game without knowing how the factions are, and more importantly, how the setting is supposed to be and how has it informed the decisions made on the ruleset.

    - d10 based combat system... well, that's ok, but how does it work? What does it bring to the table apart of a bigger range of random results? Saying it's d10 says a lot less than explaining how the core mechanics work.

    - Alternating unit activation... does that mean IGOUGO alternating the units, or something else. For example, do you activate units by Initiative, or another kind of randomizer?

    - "Rules support a plethora of different tactical styles". How? In which way do they support them, and what's in the rules to implement that support?

    - What do I specifically want to know? How about this: I already play Beyond the Gates of Antares, which is a d10 based alternate activation system with a very interesting setting and some cool mechanics. What would Aggressor Recon bring to the table that would make me choose it over BtGoA?

Thanks in advance for any answer. (Oh, rabidaskal's idea is good too).

To the OP, you're asking people to fork over $40 for a sight unseen ruleset. A single paragraph of high level generic statements doesn't help at all i'm afraid. If you'd like peeps to buy your product, you're going to have to actually show some of it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think rabids idea for a posted batrep will showcase the game and answer a lot of your questions Albert. I commit to posting one soon.

    I appreciate this dialogue!

Yeah, seconding what people are saying here - The info you've given sounds like a steam greenlight game where you've got all the buzzwords and genres that you've seen people want, however haven't tried to explain the mechanics in any way to make it sound attractive over the noise of all the other games who can quantify and represent themselves.

That said the cover art is gorgeous and a D10 system is something I've seen people crying out for on here a fair amount.

Best of luck on your endeavours, and remember show don't tell

    Also,

I forgot to give our cover artist a plug. Alan Gutierrez has been a fiction cover illustrator for decades. You may have seen his work as he was the designer of the original Battletech cover by FASA. You can see his art at alangutierrezart.deviantart.com

Thanks everyone! I'm still working on getting a battle report photographed, documented, and posted for all of you. Also, working on Battlescribe files!

    Cheers.

Biggest pull to me for new games is short little vids (or a single vid) on how the game plays. A tutorial video.

You show how a turn works, etc. The best at this is Achilles "Learn to play X" posts. Maybe take a note on that and show us. As I also love games where I can use my own minis as I have a truck load of scifi, but dropping 40$ is way to much unless I see how the game works
