so I was thinking about checking out dust but I know that it has been struggling due to the kickstarter problems etc.
anyone know a general status of the game?
I don't even know where to look for models for the game besides ebay. who is fronting the game nowadays?
warlord is putting out a game called Konflict 47 http://www.warlordgames.com/pre-order-konflikt-47-weird-world-war-ii/ that could make great use of the dust models. it sounds basically like the dust universe using the bolt action engine.
I'd hate to start picking up models and find out that they no longer exist.

currently it's self distributed
http://www.dustgame.com/
but it does still seem to be around, but you need to be looking around to see if you can get the minis you want from the older FFG & battlefront stock as it's a lot cheaper than the 'new' stuff if you can find it

There are a few places that stock Dust in the U.S. besides ordering directly from the Dust site. http://www.gametimeminiatures.com http://www.miniaturemarket.com http://www.nobleknight.com The ones above come to mind right away. I have only ever bought from Miniature Market directly. I got something off eBay from Noble Knight before. Also a new rulebook just came out for free on their website. They also post news on their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DustTacticsOfficial/

If you have a friend who is willing to play with you, or you're willing to convert the units to other systems, then right now there's alot of great minis for incredibly low prices. With free rules, it's very accessible right now.
However, if you're hoping to find an active community for the game, then it's very much an open question whether DUST can survive the debacle that was their kickstarter and thrive as a self-produced game.
I've bought quite a few of the DUST mechs, buildings and aircraft, but for the purpose of playing "Mech Attack" in 28mm. I've not bought any of the infantry. The models are really impressive and come pre-primed/basecoated.
Miniaturemarket has ridiculously low prices, though you'd kick yourself if you saw how evenb lower they were in last weeks "Christmas in July" sale.

I just recently discovered Dust at Origins and I am thrilled. The new rules Dust 1947 are clear and concise and have simplified the Suppression mechanism. And the models are beautiful. The premium edition are particularly nice and combine scifi with WW II...a very engaging combination. Combat is fast and deadly and based on simple D6. The unit cards are top notch and I just ordered the Dust 1947 cards for the SSU and Axis. The game is clean, easy to pick up and very immersive. And the prices on MM and eBay are so low that it is mind boggling. I highly recommend this fantastic game.

Game was good but has lost most of its support and gaming communities. It had a firat edition, second edition, third edition, and now has a new edition (the cards are not interchangable) just do to politics and company disagreements.
They screwed kickstarter backers and kept hundreds to thousands of dollars of goods.
Due to the rapid changing rules, constant repurchasing of rule cards, theft from customers, etc, people dropped the game. This is why it is ridiculously cheap. They should have stuck with 2nd edition and kept it as a board game, then it would still be alive and well.
The game was fun though, but not the best system out there.

Well I'm hoping konflict 47 from warlord games gains some traction. I love the dust models so will use them to play any weird war 2 game. And they are more durable than most 28mm figures. The mechs really make me geek out but finding players has been impossible

Exactly, at least to proxy until I can acquire all the rad models specific to that system.

Konflict 47 is a new game. Give it a few years to see how it goes.
