I have yet to play a game of 30k and am trying to gather ideas on a good, well rounded list. I will mostly be playing friendly games since sadly,30k really has not kicked off in my area. So I don't see any tournaments anytime in the foreseeable future.

So far I have been working with the units and vehicles I find aesthetically appealing to me. Plus the 20 Tactical Marines I got from the BaC starter box I shared with my brother.

I have book three and the army lists book so I have been tinkering with upgrades for the above. With the list presented, is there anything glaringly obvious that I left out that might hinder a quality game?

I'm not particularly experienced, but the breachers don't make a whole lot of sense in there. At least to me. I feel like they really shine with the Stone Wall (the +1 T formation). Otherwise they're just expensive tacs.

Thanks. This is why I asked . I have zero experience and have not even played 40k in 5 or so years. I'm a noob for all extensive purposes trying to get into the game for the first time.

With that list, you might as well be using the Stone Gauntlet RoW. So your breachers will benefit from the +1 T.

I suggest maybe adding an apothecary to the breachers. That will make them even harder to kill.

I am assuming Sigismund and the sword brethren are gonna be riding in the Proteus. I personally prefer the look of the Proteus, but because it's not an assault vehicle the squad will be shoot to death for 1 turn. It would be better to run it as a Phobos instead.

Thanks for the note. First off, your assumption is correct, Sigismund will be with the brethren in some form of land raider. I should be able to make those changes fairly easily. My list has plenty of room for changes.

With the new red book for space marines out, the breachers and tacticals have now become a bit cheaper in points, which may benefit this list idea a bit, you could add a few more of either into the list.
