Subject: silver tower- is it worth just buying the rules?

so I have a bunch of miniatures already and I always see a bunch of sales for just the rules and cards so I was wondering, is it worth buying just the rules and cards if you aren't concerned about the minis and just want the game?
are the game cards specific to the models in the set or could I say throw down some orcs and call it a day?

Yes, the cards are model specific. There are rules for some miniatures not included in the box, like Screamers, Flamers, Herald of Tzeentch and 4 more heroes.
There are no rules for Orcs and stuff, but you could easily make them up. Or try google and see if someone already did.

I'd say yes if they're cheap enough as the game itself is fun (if not quite as deep yet as quest of old)
but only if you plan never to get the minis as getting the full game is so much cheaper than they will ever be apart you'll never be able to bring yourself to buy them (and you won't want to buy the game if you've already got the rules and cards)

It's a fun game and the miniatures are great. If you can spare the cash, it's a good purchase - just look for deals!

Looks like you can find the game supplies without box board or figs for about $20 shipped.
They are cool figs, but as near as I can tell, one of the figs in Silver tower is anything outside of relatively common fantasy tropes so if you've got a big collection of fantasy minis, you're probably pretty much covered.

Mini size doesn't matter, but the goons come with a variety of gear- dude with a 2xhand weapon is different from dude with 2 1xhand weapons, is different from shield dude.
If you have a variety of guys where it's easy to tell gear styles apart or don't care about the nuance, it's no problem, but I think it would be a pain to have 3 different types of baddies with 3 different types of gear if you don't have good visual aids.
On worth it, yeah, it's a pretty fun casual group game. A bit too easy, but my group almost immediately pushed baddie health to make it more interesting.
