Hey folks,

I am going to start AoS and want to play heavy magic spells army.
What would you recommend? Which army does have lot of magic?
I read Stormcast guys do not have magic, is it true?

Well tzeentch armies are pretty magic heavy but due to the new rule of one magic got nerfed slightly do to the fact that you can only cast one spell type a turn. So say for example you cast arcane bolt? The next wizard you have in your army cannot use arcane bolt since it was used in the turn. I suspect Arcane magic armies will get better due to the fact that GW are bringing back magic lore's and if you have a lot of wizards a lot of spells will be going off.

Now a pure stormcast faction does not have any wizards, only priests and divine spell casters oh and they can't unbind magic. Now if you dedicate yourself to the order faction you can add wizards and the like. Still I am planning to do a devoted of sigmar/stormcast army with divine magic flying everywhere. Warrior priests are divine spell casters but can unbind magic like a wizard.

I find all the wizards from the old Dark Elves to have quite good and potent variety spell-wise.

Consider Sylvaneth - you can have quite a few spellcasters, all with different spells...

Lores are coming back? This is the first I'm hearing about this. Do you have a source? I'd like to look into that further.

Yeah sylvaneth have their own magic lore and you can give one spell to each wizard. Savage orrucks are getting their own lore and GW said they are going to work something out for the older battle tomes. Do also remember that Khorne has priests now and is most likely (FINALLY thank god) he is getting his own divine magic lore.

Right now, the most magic is Sylvaneth. It has its own lore.. So not only do all the casters in the book have a spell, but there are 6 more spells. You can roll rando for each, or roll once and every caster gets it (obviously never doing that in points play)

The other tomes will be updated at some point I'm sure and new tomes coming out with include lore. Opens the door for GW to release spell lore decks again.

Elves a lot have a lot as you can be dark/high all in one.

As for a priest model, I used GWs when I had stormcast and Avatar of Wars warrior priest as its good.

Death have absolutely loads, if you want. Many times our combat characters also have spells to offer. In addition, Death synergies often boost our casters - such as the Mortis Engine, Casket of Souls and Arkhan.

It's a theme in Tzeentch, lizards and high elves (in the old fluff). Tzeentch daemons are good at magic, due to synergies, abilities and some spell stealing.
Lizardmen have some potent spell casters with the Slaan.

There is the option to go with lots of magic and casters in most other factions too. Definitely not Khorne, stormcast and dwarves though.

Stormcast guys have priest spells right? I like how they look like.

I don't like Tzeentch models so far, i LOVE orukks but there are not too much new orukks models released so far.

So I guess we just ignore the awesome wizard army that is the Collegiate Arcane?

Indeed you can! Just like the Stormcast/warrior priest suggestion above, this combined army is also a Order army so goes together fine.

Right now you can mix anything you want. Stormcast Eternals and Chaos can be together. When the Generals Handbook comes out, not sure if they put a stop to it or not. Thing is when you mix in the Generals Handbook all I know for sure is you loose the "bonuses" you would get if you kept everything "bound" or what ever it's called, in the same faction.

I can't tell you the page number but I seem to recal in the GHB matched play being limited to a single grand alliance straight off the bat.

In terms of a great magic army, again I have heard great things about the upcoming Bonesplitterz. They have loads of crazy spells that get buffed up if the casting roll is a double. Sounds really fun.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)
