Most of the spammers that I get to see use urls's in the title.
Is it an idea to don't allow it or restrict it in some sort, in order to mess with the spammers?

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

It sounds a good idea. Legoburner is the man to look into the feasibility and cost/benefit.

Like jhe90 I find the url titles very easy to spot allowing me to jump on and nail spambots easily. It is still a tedious task.

maybe a automated alert?
If i HTML title is posted it triggers a notification on the behind the scenes side,
auto alert. you don't need to find them when they come to you

In my years on Dakka I have never seen a legitimate thread with ano URL as its title.

Therefore I support this change.

Currently ongoing projects:
Horus Heresy Alpha Legion

The Marine Standing Behind Marneus Calgar

Entirely a URL I could see, but there is a thread in the N&R section right now with a URL in the title.

Anvilindustry.co.uk - Regiments Wave Two Available Now!

Seems a legit thread name.

Spam threads often have a title that is only a URL.

However it's a good idea to include a human review and decision in the loop, much as I would like to automate getting rid of spam bots.

I have over 40,000 posts and there are times it feels like at least half of them are reporting and baneing spam bots.

While it might work for a little while, the spammers would quickly learn to spell it out as (dot)com or use s/l/a/s/h/e/s or even s p a c e s.

Not to mention there's been probably almost as many bots without URL thread titles and on some forums I've even seen them use clickbait titles, such as the recent Nice attack...
Some toss the URL in their sig, or somewhere on their profile, some seem to post a few kind of odd but mundane posts before getting to putting out their URL.

Sadly the only way to really automate bot removal would likely be on sign up I think. Then that could also potentially annoy people as well.

Maybe make you do a Voight-Kampff test before creating threads with URLS?

We found out, a few years back, that it's not usually bots that are spamming Dakka. This came about during the great kitchen wars of 2013, as I recall, when the very word "kitchen" was stripped from the thread title options. The spammers adjusted almost instantly, inserting random characters and spaces as needed to bypass our automated defenses.

This war is won in the trenches, one "delete thread" button at a time.

Aye, soft close draws and under unit heaters must be sacrificed
