Awhile back, in the "Which Army Have You Always Wanted To Make" thread, I mentioned an idea of taking a bunch of Necrons and painting them up to look like Lego Men.

Well, since I had a bit of spare plasticard, a tad of spare cash, and my build shelf was somehow empty, I said "What the hell!" and bought a box of Warriors, a Destroyer Lord, and a codex to mess around with. (Not that I expect to make more than enough to maybe play Combat Patrol with, but hey...)

I started with the Lord, since he'd be a good test for the techniques and paint scheme, and had all those nice flat surfaces to put a few lego "bumps" onto...

Here he is, either getting ready to smite the Lego Guy I used as a reference, or doing something horrid with the Ressurection Orb... (taken by crappy cameraphone - remaining pics are better quality.) Ta-da. http://static.flickr.com/56/148504427_d357887a21_m.jpg

Here's a few shots to show where he's at (and a few flaws in the paintjob I missed originally - whoops!

Really, aside from my hands aching after punching about five zillion plasticard rounds for the details and the head of every model in the army, this was actually a really simple, really fun thing to do! Highly reccomended for your next tounge in cheek project.

And, yes, those are real Lego bricks for the base, and I'm actually incorporating actual lego pieces into the basing of all the models for this.

Well... no one will accuse you of not being silly.

I'll give you that one.

Somehow the lego connection just doesn't come through enough for me. I didn't look at that and say 'necron lego guy!' I just said 'mediocre necron'. Maybe more lego bitz incorporated with the model? lego laser guns for the warriors and such? Seems like a good idea, just isn't mcoming through yet.

Well, personally I think it is way over the top silly. Unfortunately I have to agree with Kid_Kyoto that as it is, it doesn't immediately stike me as lego.

However, if you were to swap the original head with a lego head, perhaps with the silly smile remaining, I believe that pretty much everyone would instantly get the connection.

Next on the agenda is the Barbie Sisters of Battle Army and the My Little Pony Khornite Chaos Army. (My Little Pony = Juggernaut = Pure 3V1L)

Hey, anything's better then a Crotch Rocket-themed Emperor's Children army. (We've secretly replaced this marines p3n15 with a heavy bolter - let's see if he notices.)

Back on topic, it dosen't look that bad - but as the others have said, it dosen't scream LEGO. Also, the painting is not horrible, but there are places on the white where black shows and places on the black where God-knows-what shows through (on the front left - not sure what it is, but it's not natural).

Gentlemen, we're in luck. These aliens speak American!

I'll vote for lego heads, that would put it over the top into silly land.

The main problem with using actual lego heads is that they're larger than the figure's torso. Heck, almost bigger than the body AND legs. Makes it a bit too rough.
