They used them. And that's probably about it. The only 2 legions who have neat stuff about apothecaries ( that I know of) are DG and EC. EC apothecaries got really into mutation studies and what not (Fabulous bile )

DG apothecaries were tecnically apothecary-sergeants, and were a main-stay in every tactical squad (who numbered 21 men: 19 dudes, sergeant, and apothecary-sergeant)

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

World Eaters too rules wise, their apothecaries get a special rule 'Exhortations of Butchery'.

Thete brutal approach to Infrianty warfare...
Attrition warfare.

Keeping the troops in the fight?

Due to their extensive focus on the self-sufficient nature of their infantry.

Which is why they trained their Marines in all roles no matter their specialisation and gave them versatile equipment (bolter + pistol + CCW, for example)

This is an interesting thread! Does anybody know about the Iron Hands' reliance on apothecaries? I assume just as much as anybody else, since they didn't get into the bionics side of things as heavily until after Ferrus Manus died, right?

Iron Hands don't need doctors, they just hack off the bit that's damaged and put a new, metal bit on.

Tech Medics, maybe?

Medusa had a lot of people following a primitive version the cult mecanicus. So bionics were go to even before he died.

Also of interest about iron warriors is that their geneseed was rarely rejected by initiates, thus why they could afford their crazy high casualties. I also recall their bodies also would rarely reject bionic implants. So in my head this implies they favored bionics over vat grown replacements because the bionics are faster and less risks to use.

Yea iron warrior gene seed is one of the most stable genetically, the obviouse persecution complex and paranoia aside. They also were quite happy with bionics and that carried over to them in 40k where instead of keeping mutations they generally hack it off and replace it with tech.

You can slap bionics on alot faster too. Lose a leg in morning, have a marine in battle the next...

Well according to the "Meduson" short novel, it still takes about a week or two for the graft to really take. But I do imagine that is much faster than vat growing, and can be performed immediately if supplies are on hand.

But is it fluffy to have a lot of apothecaries in a 30k Iron Legion force? I like them for the force multiplier effect but I don't want to go too far. Is a maxed-out elite slot too much for a 2k point list? Is it breaking the fluff?
