Heya mate! First off, I would use a cream color for the pads. Something like a basecoat of Zandri Dust, followed by a wash of agrax earthshade, a layer of Ushabti Bone, extreme highlights with Ulthuan Grey.

As for the black, I wound use only extreme highlights, one followed by another, applying less everytime

Eshin Grey-->Administratum Grey--->Fenrysian Grey
