Hello! I'm new to the hobby (haven't even played yet) but I've been assembling and painting my small force of necrons for a couple of months by now. However, I need some advice on how to put together the units I have (and maybe what to add to them) to create a legal and viable list.

Ideally I wanted this list to be 1000 points since most games in my local store are at 750-1250 points, so the list is capped at 1250 points.

My 750 points "core" list:

Decurion Detachment:

Reclamation Legion:
1 Overlord (warscythe) - 100 points
10x warriors - 130 points
10x warriors - 130 points
5x immortals - 85 points
3x tomb blades (twin linked gauss blasters, shieldvanes, nebuloscopes) - 66 points

Canoptek Harvest:
1 canoptek spyder - 50 points
3x canoptek wraiths (whip coils) - 129 points
3x canoptek scarabs - 60 points

For a total of 750 points exactly.

Apart from that I have 5 lychguard, 6 destroyers and a triarch stalker, but (provided I understand the rules correctly) I can't just include them in the list without bringing an entire auxiliary detachment (which would bring the list out of the 1000 points range to 1250+).
Initially, I wanted to upgrade this list to 990 points by adding 2 units of 3x destoyers each, but apparently I'm not allowed to do that since 6 destroyers is not enough to form an auxiliary detachment (destroyer cult). My guess is I can't take them in this list, is it true?

Is there any way I could upgrade the 750 points list above to 1000 points (without just adding more wraiths/warriors/tomb blades/etc)? If not, what could you suggest for a 1000 points necron list? (If possible, including destroyers since I really love the models).

Thanks for help!

Correct! You can include the Lychguard because they can be taken in the Reclamation Legion, but to field the Destroyers you need a Destroyer Cult (1x Destroyer Lord, 3x units of Destroyers) and to field the Triarch Stalker you need a Judicator Battalion (2x units of Triarch Praetorians, 1x unit of Triarch Stalkers).

The Decurion is a little restrictive at 750-1250 points. You can field one, but not a good one. That's mostly because the Auxiliary formations are a bit pricey. I would say the sweet spot for a good Decurion is 1500 points and up. So, for now, I would run a Combined Arms if I was you. Don't underestimate the power of Objective Secured Necrons. I would also put a Phase Shifter on the Overlord for challenges. I hope this helps!

Hey dude!

So to address your questions, yes you need 3x3 squads of destroyers and a destroyer lord minimum for a destroyer cult in a Decurion. Same goes for the stalker, needs to be in a judicator battalion.

You can add the lychguard into the reclamation legion as is, would give you some more points.

Are you going to buy more models eventually or going to keep what you have?

If you are going to buy more models you could just build up a complete destroyer cult and put it in instead of the harvest.

Otherwise the only way you can get more points without buying any more models would be to run a combined arms detachment. To have a pretty solid list I would run:

CAD:

1x Lord w/ warscythe (proxy your overlord as him, will be fine)
1x Stalker w/ Heat Ray
10x Warriors
10x Warriors
3x Destroyers
3x Destroyers
3x Tomb blades w/ Vanes & scopes

Allied formation:
Canoptek Harvest
1x spyder
3x wraiths w/ coils
3x scarabs

Total: 1000 points even

This is a fairly mobile list, has enough tools to deal with most problems you'll face (weakest area is close combat). The spyder will be focused first, followed by the stalker if your opponent knows what they are doing. If you stick the stalker next to your warriors they're hitting on 2's, so when they get into rapid fire range they will hurt a lot more.

Hope this helps!

I think I'm gonna go with the CAD list suggested above for now and then complete my destroyer cult after a few games.

Thanks for the responses, they helped a lot!

Destroyer cult is fun, and the destroyer lord had been my MVP in a lot of my games. I tool him up so he's beefy and send him off cutting whatever looks at him sideways to pieces :p
