Subject: terrain from legos?

ive been kicking around the idea of using a bunch of lego pieces for some infinity terrain and it made me wonder if anyone has made use of lego for terrain before?
there are some really interesting pieces that I could see using.
of course you have the problem of the studs on the bricks but I think that they could be managed pretty well.
any ideas or examples of use floating around?

Seems very expensive to do the whole thing from lego.
I think you'd be better off wit an mdf system and just jazz it up with the odd speciality lego piece if those are what take your fancy.

If you use tile bricks on top to hide the studs, the results will look much less LEGOish.
Alex is right that LEGO is expensive, but it does have a few advantages:
- nice and sturdy for storage and transport
- if designed as sub-components to clip together (via Technics bricks, the same as LEGO modular buildings clip together), you'd have a nice modular system to be assembled in multiple ways to suit a particular board layout or mission.

I used several of the Lego giant tires from some of the older "Mining series" to jazz up my Necromunda board..
And.. you can find lego bricks pretty cheaply at thrift stores or yard sales, and .. just glue them togeather and give them a prime and paint..

If the studs are an issue, you could always stick something on top of them, or sand them down.
You could also glue together pieces to make some sub-assemblies to make a modular board. Whatever works.

Steal your kids legos, make buildings, throw back in bucket when they're not looking. Rinse. Repeat.
