Hey,

I am a new player looking to build up a tau army.

Some of the requirements I had in mind:
-Not a fan of the riptide model, and I am not too concerned with competitive play currently (and I can start adding riptides once I go higher or have some more experience)
-Should be able to use the models to make a 500/750 pt list
-Preferably keep the troops around 20 models (2x starter set), going for an additional set would be okay, but needing 21 troops for example would be a bit akward.

The last 150 points were the hardest, currently this is being used by the breacher squad/devilfish/piranha.
Simply because I like the idea of breachers and like the piranha model, but any alternative suggestions are welcome (as is feedback on the overall list)

Other idea I had to maybe fill in those points if I subtract some models somewhere else.
CAD with
breachers+ ethereal (+homing beacon for DS suits/devilfish)
Skyray (sounds great, and I like the model)

But then I run into points issues (having to take away other things and spreading myself too thing) or having no good way to get the breachers into a good position

I would trade the points spent on turrents for B-side Missile Drones instead. It helps the suits to have that ablative wound.

Otherwise, your list is looking fine. Play it.

I play a very similar list at 1000pts, heres some suggestions.

Split the fusion suits into single units, and deep strike them in for tanks, as you can have 3 elite slots for the cadre.

Ive never been a fan of the breachers/devilfish, if you had a dedicated list with 3-4 units of them it may work but most of your units are long range. Also the devilfish is a bit overpriced points wise for what it is. Id take it out and the breachers, replace with a identical fire warrior squad you already have for lots of combined fire.

Use the points to add another missile broadside and split them up for more msu/combined fire.

Im a big fan of the stealth formation, id suggest with the spare points adding a fusion blaster to your ghostkeel and if any points left over add fusions to your stealth suits to benefit from the ignore cover.

If your over your points limit maybe keep the pirahna stock as it dies very easily and i use it to block assaults/capture objectives. Turrets could be taken out if needed too.

Hope this helps.
