Having a bit of difficulty seeing the difference from some google searches, from what I can see the main difference is that it's possible to build some slightly more dynamic poses, is that basically it?

From what I can tell, the big difference is the new ones have a waist, but a saw and putty can give old ones that. If you have old ones, I would not run out and replace them. But if you are adding to your force old and new won't look odd side by side.

The new ones look far more dynamic.

You can make the old ones more dynamic too(look at my tau gallery), it just take some work, such as cutting and re pinning, head swaps and such.

The new crisis comes on the new bigger base, some more support systems and a big shoulder pad.

the cast is a lot better on the new ones obviously, thats one of the reasons why I am currently replacing all my crisis suits with the new ones.

Quite a big difference, waists, 2 part chest armour (for iridium armour front) seperate and posable jetpack thrusters (which easily break) Much tougher ankles. More variations in arm poses, 2 part legs, updated detail on flamers and plasma rifles, changed the missile pod to be "open topped" so you can see what looks like either ammo or a cooling vent -very odd decision. Also all the helmets are 2 part. You get 3 heads and then around double that in face plates. Separate options for kneepads and shoulder pads. Thaaatts the main things I think. Also worth noting that the drones included have all the bits for marker, shield , and gun drones. (although I seem to recall not quite enough to make 6 of he same type)
