HI,
So I just got started on a Thousand Sons and Alpha Legion force using the Betrayal at Calth boxset and got the paint scheme from FW Customer support. With their airbrushes they use the Forge World solution thinner however getting it shipped to me is rediculously expensive. I haven't used FW paints before or thinners with airbrushes, so are there any good alternatives you can recommend, or are all thinners the same etc, or am I best off just living with the shipping cost? I'm very new to thinners so preesume that different ones have different consitencies etc so any help in this would be appreciated so I can get on with my force.

Thanks

Tamiya does a line of clear paints in basic colors that are very similar to the forgeworld clear paints.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.

While they may now say that they use their own brand, most of their HH schemes pre-date their own airbrush products.

Not an airbrush user I'm afraid, but I've seen a lot of people who are mention Liquitex thinner.

I use Badger Minitaire Ghost Tints, specifically Blue and Plasma Fluid, for my Alpha Legion. Works pretty well.

I have the old recipe from FW for their Alpha legion.

Prior to their own paint range they used Tamiya clear paints.

Wait so do you already have FW paint and are asking specifically about which thinner to use, or do you not have the FW paints and are just generally asking what paints and thinner to use?

Yes, different thinners are different, you can't use the same thinner with ALL paints, but you can usually use them with similar paints.

If you already own FW paints, I dunno what thinner works best with them. If they formulated the same way as GW formulates their regular paints, then probably Vallejo Airbrush Thinner should work fine.

If you don't already own FW paints, there's heaps of different options for paints, they all have different pros and cons and it's usually a personal thing which one an individual might have preference for.
