Hi there !
So, after almost one year of Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader, I'm looking for a new Universe to explore, and to play in. I really enjoyed the mature, difficult, universe of Dark Heresy, and so I thought about Cthullu.
However, I have difficulties to find how to play to Cthullu: is the game dead ? The books seem to be out of stock !
To play to " Achtung ! Cthullu " I need the "basic game" is this right ?

Have you played Chtullu ? How is this ? Can you describe it / give examples ?

Thank you very much !

Call Of Cthulhu 7th edition is on its way after the kickstarter earned half a million dollars earlier this year.

Oh, looks like you can buy it in PDF form already:

Ah, Cthulhu.
The RPG where you go insane, die or get eaten by a gibbering monstrosity from beyond space-time.

And if you're lucky, it happens in that order. People in that game are never lucky.

Haven't played it in a number of years now, but there were a few things that stood out.

Your GM must know their gak.
Don't get attached to your character.
(I mean it. Depending on the setting (there were at least three when I played - gaslight [Victorian period - think Jack the ripper times], classic 20s and "Now" [80s-90s] and though hit points could be restored, SAN wasn't so lucky.)

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Pick up the Cthulhu Quickstart from the Chaosium site. That's really all you need to understand the mechanics. The adventures are well-written, so pick up the PDFs on DriveThruRPG after playing the Quickstart.

If you've played storytelling or dramatic RPGs (eg. drama points or plot points), I wrote up a light RPG based on the SJG Cthulhu Dice, which goes for five bucks and is shiny: https://rpggeek.com/rpg/7249/cthulhu-dice-rpg

Here is a blog page were someone took the comic out of one of the older rule books..

Explains about the game alot...

But... it is a good game.... any edition you play is solid.. but with that said.. its not a game like D&D
Things get worse the longer you play.. not better.. as per most of Lovecraft and friends writings.

I truly love the game.. but I don't go into a game thinking my charterer will survive
