Subject: Another Green Stuff Issue - still soft after 24+ Hours

Hi guys, I hope you are not pissed from my constant threads about Green Stuff, but I've landed on an new issue. Previous I wanted a guide how not to let the Green Stuff cure fast, but now I need an advise on the opposite. You see, I've made this purity seal for my Free Blade. All cured well but, the parchment beyond the symbol is still soft after more than 24 hours. I can move the parchment easy and it feels so fragile that I am afraid I may break it. Im not sure such thin sheets of green stuff need more time to cure into plastic or it can't be helped. There is something else, I did not clear the sclupt from cooking oil, because I am afraid not to break the tiny page/parchment. Maybe the cooking oil is preventing from curing? But that will be odd, because the purity seal cured with no problem.
I wonder If I should reinforce the sculpt beyond the shoulder pad with more green stuff, but that wont make the bottom part less fragile :(

The problem is not in curing. it has cured, but Greenstuff made that thin will remain rubbery, and that is so thin...I bet it feels like paper. If you cannot leave a fingerprint in it, the GS is cured. It is one problem with GS. More time may firm it a bit, but I just think the sheet is too thin. I try to stay at least 1mm thick on GS for large banners etc. I have a pennant that has remained flexible weeks after I sculpted it.
I have no experience with using cooking oil, so do not know how that changes the chemical reaction.
I wish I had a suggestion, but all I can think is banners of that nature make from thick paper, coat/soak in glue, then flex into the folds you want. Its not easy or perfect, but I have had some luck.

So I better start it over with thicker "list" of green stuff banner :( Damn, that's half a day sculpting gone - I'm new to green stuff. Maybe If apply glued paper blow ?

If it doesn't feel so fragile that you think it might just tear off then I wouldn't worry about too much. Even if you were to glue some paper (I think I might try some cloth, an old cotton handkerchief is something I use) it won't help you, because the Green Stuff will tear along the shoulder pad and even if you add a backing that join won't be strengthened.
In future an idea might be to use some aluminium mesh for car body repairs. The mesh is only about 0.5mm thick and you can shape it and then put green stuff (or even liquid green stuff) over the top.

Also vary the mix (one colour part is the "hardener" - if you mix more of that in than the other, the hardness does go up). I'm not sure which one is which though - I mainly use 50/50 and not for thin detailing.
Also mixing in miliput with the GS can make it set harder.

The mesh is really nice idea. I will forward for some stuff like that.

I think the yellow is more than the blue. However I think I found solution. I am currently placing thin layers of more stuff from the back of the banner. If you look the knight from the back, the banner will be really ugly sight, but I have no other choice :(

Actually, sculpting another layer to the back is a good idea, just lay it out flat like that, a bit thicker. Also, more blue makes it harder. I also think that mesh Idea is really good Grog. I might use window screen mesh, cheap and easy from DiY, but I'm going to give that a try.
Hey, give us a shot of the finished product here!
