Subject: Necrons: What Units are Best to Have?

Hey all,
I wasn't too sure where to post this so feel free to move it around or something. I've recently started tarted building a Necrons army and am not too sure what to go with. So far I've got a squad of immortals with Tesla carbines, and I have an inbuilt command barge and will be getting a box of warriors. Any ideas?

It depends. Are you looking for best as in Tourny level best or best as in not-trash and does its job. Currently with 7th nothing in the necron codex is entirely trash, there are just other options that are more efficient points wise than others. In casual and semi-tourny play everything is useable and good. Also depends on the army style you want out of your necrons.

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case. |

That...actually about covers it.
I'd argue Obelisks being optional, depending on what the FAQ will say about the Sphere firing arc.

Yep agrees with the above, if you are looking at competitive lists. I will add that generally 99% of the time gauss > tesla.
If you want to have some spice and variety into your army, running CAD's is a good way to get units and troops you like the look of into play without spending alot (points and $$'s wise).
I have found the Doomsday Ark really fun, C'tan and vault really fun (so random, its frustrating and amazing depending on what powers you get!). Monolith is actually quite powerful in lower points games, AV14 can be a tough nut to crack at times.

Ok I will then look into buying the above stuff. I'm looking for something that's at least semi-competitive, so if anyone has any more suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
EDIT: I usually play Astra Militarum, so I'm fairly used to shoot armies, if that helps people.

I'd recommend that the first things in your shopping list should probably be the required units for the Decurion followed by the Canoptek Harvest.

Is the reason for advising 2 Spyders so that you can run two Canoptek Harvests?
