Hi, I'm reading DakkaDakka since 3 years, but never posted because I'm not a native english speaker and I didn't want wo anoy the users with my bad english.
I finished university recently and as I'm earning some real good money for the first time in my live it's also time for my first Forgeworld army.
I choose the World Eaters because I like white/blue color sheme and the idea of power armourd guys killing other power armourd guys with chainaxes.

This army will NEVER see a turnament and priority #1 is to make an fluffy army that provides fun for me as well as for my opponent.
Since it's 30k I want at least 2 20men strong squads. 30k (for me) is about hordes of Space Marines fighting each other. I hate the idea of spamming, so besides of 2 Tactical Squads I don't want to have any unit twice.

What would be a good start?

My first thougt was

20 Tacticals, Chainaxes, Bolter
20 Tacticals Chainaxes, Bolter
10 Veterans, some Power Swords
15-20 Assault marines
5-10 Tacicals with flamers
10 Rampagers
5-10 Red butchers
Kharn
A Guy with a big banner (+1to Charge and run)
2-3 Walkers (Kheres Assault Cannons, Close combat weapons)
2-3 Medics

Scorpius
Predator
Vindicator (laser destroyer)

But thats too many guys to start. So do you have any Ideas for a smal, but fluffy WE army?

P.S. I'm thankfull if you point out mistakes in my spelling or grammar.

Which Rite of War are you planning to roll with? This will effect the amount/ types of units you are going to purchase.

A solid start to any WE force is Tactical Squads. I suggest large size squads, geared exclusively for the assault.

Legion Apothecaries for WE are great addition, specifically to the tactical squads.

Rampages are fluffy and packed for the assault, but greatly over priced. In my opinion , if you want a WE specific unit, go for the Red Butchers.

I use Kharn. A lot. For the points, he is a solid HQ.

This. I personally like the beserker assault rite which gives you hatred while outside of your own deployment zone. Rampagers are cool but I would advise keeping hem cheep with maybe jump packs and that's about it. The special weapons are situational at best and will rarely out perform the +1S and the extra attack from two ccws you get from keeping your chain axes. If you ever get to the point of taking angron, definitely give him a unit of red butchers as a bodyguard and probably give them a spartan. Angron, 10 butchers and a primus medicae (or preferably gahlan surlak as he gives 4+ fnp) is a beat stick that will slaughter most things while simultaneously being difficult to stop.

The Berserker Assault Rite look about right for me. I like the idea of hordes of mad men running accros the battlefield.

So a good start would be 3x20 Tacticals with CCW upgrades, Kharn, Red Butchers and 1-2 Contemptors?
Or can I use other Troop Choices instead of the Tacticals to fullfill the Rite of War requirement?

Assault Marines can be used for the compulsory troops requirement, and with the new red book are a really decent choice as they are far less expensive than before. You also save on transports unless you want to footslog all of your tactical squads. My (as yet untested) Berzerker Assault list currently has a jump pack Praetor, Gahlan Surlak, a 20 man assault squad, a 20 man inductii tactical squad with a Spartan, a 10 man bolter tac squad to sit on objectives, apothecaries, a Cortus in a pod, a Mortis, and 2 Javelins. I use Red Butchers a lot, but in my Crimson Path lists since I don't need another troops choice.

I use Berserker Assault on my WE force. In order to get the most from that Rite of War, I would use Tactical Squads, or as stated above with the big points reduction, Assault Squads. I run two 15 marine Tactical Squads geared with bolt pistols and chain axes backed up by one 15 marine breacher squad.

Do the updated World Eater tacticals still get free chain axes? These would be in addition to their bolter / bolt pistol.

The rule just says that any model with access to a chainsword may take a chainaxe for free. YMMV in your interpretation but I would personally just pay the 2pts/model to avoid any issues. Now that chainaxes are +1S it is definitely worth paying points.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't take the free bolters on my tac squads purely because I don't find it as World Eaters/10.

OT I really like standard vindicators with my boys because they can advance with my tac marines and put holes in anything that would give them trouble (like terminators) plus they really fit that aggressive WEs doctrine.

I'm also a big fan of Destroyers, they can hover around the front lines poking enemy units in a gunline and make charges in places where you need a bit of extra punch if your tac marines make it to the enemy. I might be a bit biased because I liked Sergeant Skane so much in Betrayer, however.

Yes they do.

I think most people run it as it being a free swap from chain swords to chain axes, meaning you have to pay the 2pts. Check in your flgs/with your opponent before taking them for free in addition to your bolt gun and pistol
