So I'm working on a new empire-brett-freeguild army, and noticed a few things missing in the general's handbook when comparing the pdf warscrolls to the new grand alliance order book. Warrior priests and war alters are now devoted to sigmar and loose the freepeople keyword and can no longer buff freepeople units. Thats fine, however on page 150 in GH, theres no basic warrior priest or war alter listed in points that do have warscrolls on the GW website under PDF's. This is mainly a tournament question, but do you think I would be allowed to use the old warscroll at the new point value?

Seems they keep changing what they want humans to be. Freepeople to freeguilds to devoted to sigmar, yet lots of spells/buffs work off of keywords so only a few units could be effected. Can throw in witch hunters and flagellants missing from general free people points as well.

I know there is a mistake maybe more in the General's Handbook. Have you checked the FAQ by any chance? Maybe it's they Errata it in.

*edit*

Ok I checked not in there. Sorry can't help any further.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Thanks, yeah I checked the FAQ and found nothing. I think its just a problem of GW trying to figure out what to do with humans. Too many changes to what they are that a few old warscrolls got lost in the mix. Might have to just email them to see if they can FAQ it.

Usually it's the case to use the most up to date warscroll. So the answer would be no, but check with your tournament organiser.

Yeah it can be tricky with the changes to the Empire. For example I use the Empire Warscroll Battalion 'State Troop Detachment' that is costed at 120 points - the battalion is made up of one "Empire General" 1-3 units of "Empire State Troopers", "Empire Archers", "Empire Handgunners" or "Empire Crossbowmen" and 1 unit of either "Empire Great Swords", "Empire Outriders" or "Empire Pistoliers".

Now technically none of those units exist. But why would they include the battalion with points if it couldn't be used? So I use the updated Freeguild warscrolls to make up that battalion.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

We will probably see this many times when they update old warscrolls to fit their vision of Age of Sigmar. I'm sure Devoted to Sigmar will get more units down the line, but until then the new Warrior Priest is really lacklustre when compared to the old one.

If you don't play Matched, use any warscroll. Otherwise you're stuck with the Devoted one :/

He got turned to a Wight King with Black Axe though - seems like they dont include older warscrolls that has models conflicting with new ones. I think that's good, but it does cause conflicts in peoples armies sometimes. Death also lost their other version of Terrorgheist and Zombie Dragon (former Beasts of the Grave).

The exception to this is someone like Grimm Burlokkson who is both the new 'Cogsmith' and also is pointed in the compendium section under his old name. (With the old version being much better so that's what I use now :p)

Yeah the Terrorgiest situation is a bit of a nightmare. The Grand Alliance Death book needs to be rereleased the first in my opinion. Good job the original was only a tenner!

Well, to be fair, his MODEL is the same, but there are two differently named, valid, war-scrolls using said model, one of which has a different ability. Grimm Burlokkson is a valid choice until something else with that name exists, but the Cogsmith and its keywords are just as valid.

For instance, the Tomb King's book outright lets you use Arkhan the Black as Settra the Imperishable. The same model can be fielded as Settra the Imperishable, or Arkhan from whatever new sub-faction he is part of.

I actually love it because GW is doing double-time to make sure they don't invalidate people's armies, collections, models, etc...
