hey guys, i'm wondering, what's a good way to put together a wh40k campaign? we have anywhere from 4 - 7 people, and the armies that i know we have are:

Grey knights (Pretty darn large)
Dark angels(fairly big)
CSM(800 pts or so)
Blood angels(??? size)

any ideas for a story or a way to organize this into a campaign? i have some writing skills, so i can try to elbourate on anything.

Thanks in advance!

The CSM have Fallen in them. The Grey Knights showed up to fight Chaos, and figured out the DA's secret when they captured a Fallen. They are not amused. The Blood Angels show up, and promptly succumb to the Black Rage.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

avoiding the lorax on Crion

Those csm need a good deamon potential incursions risk. They need something to lure there role.

The grey knight come for good reason.

The blood angels could be on patrol.
And the fallen... Well csm fallen suspects... As verdai said.
Dark angels have a lazy excuse.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Pick up one of the older Campaign books GW made. They are quite affordable second hands and you can actually choose the best one based one : D

Without xenos it sounds like a heresy v loyalist type of set up. Maybe the Chaos have come to turn the Space Marines and that's how they end up fighting against each other?

The old Daemonhunters codex had a few scenarios where the Inquisition would fight Space Marines wholesale. Some could still work for the Grey Knights:

1.) The Space Marines are disgusted by the Inquisition (and by extension the Grey Knight's) treatment of civilians that witnessed the horrors of the warp and decide to fight to protect them from extermination

2.) The Space Marine commander came into possession of a dangerous Daemonic Artefact (that he does not yet know is corrupted) and must be dealt with immediately.

3.) The Space Marines have passed through a particularly bad warpstorm and despite initial appearances, might be tainted and exterminated.

In addition, older material hints that Dark Angels were willing to abandon their fellow space marines if hints of the Fallen were near, and often the other party wasn't very "understanding" and thinks them traitors. Similarly, Dark Angels are known to silence members of the Inquisition, lest their actions during the heresy gets out. They could very well kill the Grey Knights for "knowing too much". They could also do the same to the Blood Angels that have witnessed a fight with the Fallen.

Chaos is Chaos, the other three factions (or even itself) have very little reason to not beat their face in.

The only setup I can't think of a good reason for is Blood Angels VS Grey Knights. Blood Angels usually run afoul of Hereticus Inquisitors rather than Malleus, and thus are more likely to be investigated rather than declared open war upon. In addition there's nothing about them that hints at Daemonic influences, so unless the GKs think they have a Daemonic Artifact they really wouldn't pick a fight with them.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

The Blood Angels are generally not as degenerate as the Flesh Tearers, but they are on the same path. A unit of Blood Angels could easily have a little incident like the Flesh Tearers did at Gaius Point - which the Grey Knights could easily mistake for daemonic possession.

Thanks guys, this is great. i forgot, we also have a 300 pt force of skitarii.
also eldar may be joining in, as a very low point value army

we can say that the CSM are mounting a vanguard assault on an adeptus mechanicus forge world.
if the CSM beat the first defense, the grey knights, they then must get through the dark angels.
then the CSM capture the main city of the forge world, and the high lords of terra send in the blood angels to assist them

if the grey knights manage to defeat the CSM then they find one of the fallen in their ranks, (i might buy a cypher for that very purpose!)
and confront the dark angels. the dark angels try to eradicate the grey knights who now know their secret.
if the dark angels beat the grey knights then the last of the GK can send a vox message to a nearby astropath who sends a message to the blood angels and they send troops of to stop the dark angels.

so it might be: grey knights vs. csm
if csm wins go to
csm vs blood angels
if csm wins again go to csm vs. dark angels

if grey knights win the first one we could go to grey knights vs dark angels and blood angels
then blood angels vs dark angel

My take on it.

Ad mech exlopration ship + crew is digging up some ancient ruin in search for artifacts or perhaps even a standard construction template.
Found a hidden weapon stack of a csm warlord including some nasty chaos artefacts.
The csm got an automated message that someone was looting their vaults. Csm drop in orbit and start to murder the dig teams admech deploys their on board skitarii and immediately send out a distress call.

Dark angels and blood angels respond and both send a ship.

Elder is secretly guarding the artifacts from the shadows and does not want them to leave the ruins. They will show up with no warning and start killing anyone trying to steal the artifacts.

A hidden inquitorial agent in one of the loyalist fractions reaches one of the artifacts and notices that one of them is stuff of nightmares and mighty corrupt the entire system once it becomes active again he calls the go in secret.

The go drops into orbit with a small fleet. Starts fighting its way to the artifact and confirms the inquisitors findings and do not want to take any risk for the corruption to spread. They decide to kill all of those in contact with the knowledge of the artifact and start
