Now I've seen an old movie "Full Metal Jacket" from the first to the last moment the drill instructor opens his mouth nothing but swearing and curses pour out, I wonder if it was the same with IG? Or are swearing and cursing not allowed in the Emperor's army?

As always with the Imperial Guard, it depends on the regiment. A Savlar Chem-Dog isn't going to get out of bed without being cursed, threatened and maybe teargassed; a Scintillan Fusilier would probably drop his monocle at the thought (and make his ratling butler pick it up for him); a Praetorian would probably consider that sort of behavior dashed unnecessary, old boy, but if you don't get up that climbing wall sharpish you'll feel my boot and no mistake!

In an army with billions of soldiers across the galaxy drawn from a million different worlds, I'm sure you can find an example of any kind of behavior you want.

The direct codex examples run from savage feral worlders, up through consumate-trained-from-about-the-same-time-they-could-walk lifelong soldiers so the whole gamut would be there.

I suspect that unless a regiment can be described as "poshy mc posh posh", they would allow a fair bit of verbal nonsense

You do get things cropping up from time to time, where Commissars have to take away certain forms of literature from the men (men's specials being common targets), but I doubt they'd keep their men from swearing unless a ranking officer or some such visitor were in the room.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Krieg! What a hole...

Kriegers will beat you to near death if they decide you're not putting out enough efforts, talk back and you get shot.

I doubt the Watchmaster would even tolerate lack of effort with a beating; a slub Krieger would be would deemed a blasphemer and executed on the spot or used for target practice. Additionally, I doubt a lazy Krieger would even survive normal "civilian" life on Krieg to make it to boot camp.

Meanwhile a catachan who didn't show up to breakfast probably became breakfast for something else.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Perhaps, both my examples involved conscripts from another planet. On Krieg the lazy one might become the hostile force during the final live exercise.
