Thinking back on my entry into 40k, I remembered a lot of times where I asked something that seems comically stupid or realized something that was blatantly obvious but I somehow never put the two pieces together.

The first one was when I realized the Predator was based on the Rhino Chassis. Somehow I thought it was a completely different kit. Then I bought one and found the actual Rhino hull in there. I had to do a double-take on the box art, then went "duh".

The second one was when I was first building my army list and asked someone "how do I buy this upgrade for my character?" Immediately after the words left my mouth I realized the answer to my own question. "with points". I have no idea what I was on at the time.

Any of you have stories like that where your brain just somehow tuned out and you asked something incredibly obvious or didn't realize it?

Outer Space, Apparently

I completely forgot that Overwatch was a thing at the start of 6th edition, and I was constantly saying to my opponent "wait how come you get to shoot at my Orks now?"

Pretty embarrassing when you realise mid sentence but have to finish

Doubles tournament I had Orks (my friend SM) against Necrons and SM, I used my Waaagh! and failed the charge (short like 4"). I forgot about the Reroll on the Waaagh!. My unit of Boyz that would have been epic with 4 attacks each got Gaussed to death right after.

I usually catch my tongue when I find myself realizing the stupidity of what I'm saying.

If you ever hear me just stop in the middle of a sentence, it means something like that has happened

I completely forgot to charge with a unit after moving it directly in front of an enemy. This has happened more than once.

I just yesterday had megaboz in a battle wagon arrive from reserve on turn 4 and was placing them as if I was deploying them at the start of the game. I can't figure out why I thought that's how reserves work lol

I've done this before. I also routinely forget Doctrina Imperatives, Canticles, and, worst of all, jetpack moves.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Anytime I forget to do IWND, if my opponent lets me do it during their movement phase when I remember, I fail it. Every time. However, this weekend I was totally on point, remembered every time, and my Heldrake passed both IWND rolls. Felt pretty good.
