So I'm going the money-saving route of using converted Warhounds (giving them a collar) of Chaos for Flesh Hounds, but then I realized that the new flesh hounds come on 50mm bases. I had a bunch of 40mms prepared for them because I remembered there was one time where they were on 40mms (sometime before 50mm came into existence). Would it still be acceptable to put them on 40mms or should I scale it up? Also was there any time that Flesh Hounds were depicted in official material to be on 40mms? (I remember seeing them on 40mms but can't seem to find any pictures of that now)

Also I searched the forums for some answers and all questions of this type date to before the introduction of 50mm bases. It would have been acceptable back then since the only other alternative would be 60mms, but now I'm guessing that answer would be less valid.

As you're not changing the size of the actual model, and it would be virtually identical to fire upon, I say go with what you find cool, easy, or fits with your plan.
The bases supplied are recommended sizes, not rules.

Kewl. I have an excess of 40mms due to a noodle incident in the past so this also helps me use some of those.

Noodle incident? Sounds like a good story right there.

On topic, I have five metal Flesh Hound models on 40mm bases. They were an eBay rescue. No one has complained about me using them. I've put all my other hounds on 50's just to make sure there's no trouble in the future, but I feel like they are too big for the models really.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.

I wanted to make a 40k Ogre Army based on the Tau. The line of thought was "which army had an excess of 3-wound, T and S4 models?" At the time Tyranids were still horde-based and I didn't have a good stand-in for Carnifexes.

It's either that or it was my attempt at making Terminators from bubble gum. I've had a few hairbrained ideas that never saw the light of day.
