Wolf Guard Bodyguard in Terminator Armor
|
Hey guys,
I am not happy with how 40k has gone and I haven't played a game of it for so long now. My Space Wolves have all gone 30k and my Imperial Guard are due to be rolled into the Imperial Army. This just leaves around 4k pts of Orks that are collecting dust and could be turned into £££ to boost either my legions, finish my car project or well help out with finances (have a child on the way in Jan).
The problem is I have no idea what I would get for it as its converted with Kromlech bits quite a lot.
I essentially have the following
HQ
Metal Gaz
Blood Axe Warboss (made from Cpt whats his face with Kromlech German Head)
Metal Shock Attack Gun
Weird Boy
FW Buzzgob + Grots
Elites
10 Black Reach Nobz with power claws and the like
Metal Mad Doc
8 Burna Boyz
15 blood axe commandos with Kromlech Stenguns, brenguns and custom berets
Troops
63 black reach boyz with nobz
12 shoota boyz
35 shoota boyz with nobz and Kromlech German heads
10 ard boyz made from 2nd edition meganobz with nob
2 Trukks
Fast Attack
4 Forge World Grot Tanks
2 Dakka Jetz
Heavy Support
9 Lootas with Mek
3 Kromlech Kannons with FW crew
5 Flash Gitz
Looted Wagon from SM Preditor
Battle Wagon
3 Killa Kans
Dreffdread
Stompa
Plus FW Book and Codex
I am thinking of £450 but not sure, any ideas on how to price this?
All of it is based and painted to a good to high table top standard.

You'll make less as a big army. They sell extremely poorly unless pro-painted. No idea what they'll be worth all together. Gotta find someone looking to buy an entire army's worth.

I agree with Elbows. I have sold many models on eBay, and half a dozen armies. The armies never went for much. It makes it easier posting one big box, but splitting it up into units will definitely net you more overall.
If you definitely want to sell in one go, start at the highest price you'd want on 30 day buy it now, and then drop the price each time it relists (you get a couple of free relistings). Helps prevent you underselling it, and also helps you find the right price (eventually). Putting a make offer option on also helps things move along.

Even pro-painted, the reason that armies don't sell well is that you have to find someone looking to get a whole army in one go, which is a lot rarer than someone who just wants a squad of lootas, or a bunch of boys and some trukks.

sell them in small units and they will go for 50-80% of the current gw prices.
sell them in one big chunk and the will go for 200-400 more if you are extremely lucky

Yeah, if you want to sell it on ebay split it up. You'll get less if you sell it in one hit. I learnt that the hard way .. grumble grumble ...
Or doing what JamesY says seems a good idea.

Cheers guys
Will work out prices and get the list up on here first. I want to avoid eBay as it just costs way too much.

I concur, the only advanateg to eBay is the number of people who'll see it and the discounted shipping. This is probably a better option if you think you can shift it.

Take the time to price it out on the GW website, then take 40% off of it. so 60% MSRP is about how much most stuff might sell for individually.
Look for a local facebook group or something for any LGS or 40k that might exist. Put it up for that, offer a deal for bulk purchase (50% MSRP, I know it hurts, but its reality, people love to build)
Selling individually, you might get 70%, but end up with stuff no one wants, and have to sell it super cheap. That is what happened with my necrons. I sold all the really good stuff (destroyers, wraiths, night scythes...) at like 80%, then I had warriors and ghost arks and they sold for 40%, 4 months later...
