From what I can tell a model with a melta bomb will strike at initiative 1 and strength 8 (with the armor bane) against walkers. I looked through the rule book and double checked, but there's nothing that counters this rule. So after reading the rules and errata I'm certain that melta bombs work against walkers using comparative weapon skills (model with melta bombs WS v.s. walker models WS). Just want to be sure before I go to any tournaments.

Melta bombs are made for just such a task. Just remember that, if the new FAQ is being used, you only get one grenade.

Melta bombs work the same way against any vehicle, being a walker does not change that.

The question wasn't if the melta bomb could be used against the walker, and it can, the question was the WS.

Normally in cc, you assume all vehicles are WS1 unless they are immobilized, then all attacks hit automatically.

Against walkers, as it can strike back, you use the same to hit chart, but the vehicle now has their own higher weapon skill.

So yes, melta bombs work on all vehicles. Walkers are just harder to hit because they can hit back.
