I want to play Tau and I want to write fluff for my army do you think its possible to write Tau fiction? I am going to try it I may fall on my face but its okay its for the Greater Good!

If you have any tips or opinions of how tau fiction should look like please share and help me out!

Thank You!

Well, I'd always advise looking at the 1d4chan Tau Cadre creator, as it can help you with a whole lot of details such as Sept World, number of auxiliaries, combat focus, adherence to the Greater Good, and suchlike.

Again, the main thing thing I can say is to show people what you've got, and we can work from that.

They/them

Link to Tau Cadre Creation Table

List to Tau Allied Species

Creature Creation Table (( I only suggest this is you plan to give them a specific creature ally to help separate them further from other Cadre ))

It's also good to learn about the various battle suits and tactics as they play a huge role in their warfare. My suggestion is to keep with the mobility theme and not divert too far from the norm but that's just food for thought. For all I know you could be creating a ridiculously awesome battle suit squadron to maul enemies in melee. Hehe

Hopes this helps!

How many words should each post have? I am concern with it being to long and readers not wanting to read it due to length. What is a comfortable word count per post?

I'd say 500-1000 is a good length for episodic forum posts.

Keeping your instalments short encourages readers to give them a chance. I'll switch off if I open a topic and am greeted with a massive block of unassailable text. It also helps keep your writing concise and focused.

I also like to see a lot of breaks in the format. Writing for online forum isn't the same as for a book. Small paragraphs with whole line spaces between and short instalments are all great reader aids for this environment. Especially for people like me primarily navigating DakkaDakka on their phone.

That's about as much help as I can be as I know next to nothing about Tau, seriously... I'll be reading your work to learn something about them. Looking forward to reading what makes them your xeno race of choice.
