As the title says I would like some opinions on how to effectively use wraithblades. I was thinking of running a ten man mob with 5 axes and shields and 5 blades with a spirit seer and suggestions or criticism are welcome.

The new imperial armour 11 has special options for a wraith army using the craftworld warhost/pale courts detatchments. Look at them. I think you get a spirit seer, a wraith seer, and a unit of wraithblades with preferred enemy or something.

You can give them Crusader I think plus psychic support from a Wraithseer.

I like those suggestions but I should probably elaborate on how I am using them they're going to part of a wraith host
Along side a d-scythe squad and a wraith cannon squad.

First you either get all axes or all swords.

I think you go one way or the other with this. You either have say 1400 points of eldar with some wraith blades which is fine as the rest of the eldar book can be so efficient that having a less efficient unit can still be overcome.

Or you ball out and play a super funny max unit. Using the inyaden supplement to take 5 spirit seers in one ha slot. Plus either eldrad or a wraithseer to add durability. And either a second eldar cad to add bahharoth for hit and run or small harlequin detachment to add seers for both the veil of tears power so you don't get shot and hit and run.

I could have sworn you could go half and half?
The more you know I guess.

For instance, and maximum wraith usage, you could do this at 2k:

Elder craftworld warhost:

Command: lord of the undying host
Wraithseer
1 unit of 5 wraithblades with swords

Core: pale courts battle host
Spiritseer
-graveyard of fallen dreams
3 units of wraithblades with swords
-tomb ship of fallen warriors
Wraithlord with glaive, 2 flamers

Auxiliary: Wraith host
Spirit seer, spirit stone
Wraithlord with glaive, 2 flamers
Wraithknight with sword/shield and 2 scatterlasers
3 units of wraithguard with wraithcannons

1995 points. I guess you could swap around some swords for shields and axes, or drop one of the wraithlords for some d-scythes or other upgrades, but that is how I would run wraiths. Iyanden style.

Anyways I'm not sure if that answer your question, or not. I was just pointing out that with the new Imperial Armour book you could have a command choice that can seriously buff wraithblades.

EDIT: tomb ship of fallen warriors requires you to swap the Farseer for a spirit seer or wraith seer.

Corsairs' Void Dreamer can do some great things for getting Wraithblades around for assaults. Add in a Farseer/Spiritseer to spike durability and you have fun killy unit

Unfortunately the void dealer's psychic powers specify corsair units only for their shenanigans. Otherwise deepstriking wraiths across the field for a T1 assault would be devastating.

I'm not sure devestating is a term I'd ever associate with Wraithblades. For a close combat unit they have poor I, WS and A.

Pick your poison then. Deepstriking incubi, wraithguard around the board with no scatter continuously, etc. Wraithblades were just the topic of the thread.

Some work on the Dreamer and their unit.
