Been waiting for Deathwatch for awhile and from what I see this really feels like Deathwatch.
Honestly if it weren't for tau intercept shenanigans I could see this being crazy powerful haha!!
Also one bike in a squad is pretty boss, gives you split fire AND skilled rider, and the army can pretty much deep strike so precision drops all over the place.
Just the pure versatility available to each squad is so awesome!! I love it!!

Are the Harqs just the same Troupe models currently available?
Yep, its basically all of the kits they would normally sell separately at a huge discount for everything together.
Pretty pumped, I think everything has the veteran statline standard and have the ability to select from all the weapons(like hammers, CCW, etc)
Obviously will have to wait and see to be sure of everything.
I do like the idea of little one man units running around and just being annoying.

Mantle wrote: Okay so here goes I've put together a quick list(of what I could find) for the part number from the assembly instructions in no order:
Spoiler:
82 - ultramarines
86- dark Angels, Angels redeemed
85- space wolves, red wolves, shadow wolves
88- Raven guard, hawk lords, knights of the Raven
84- blood Angels, Angels encarmine
83- Crimson fists, imperial fists, iron fists, sons of dorn
97- black Templars
95- silver skulls (with a bit of work could make death Knights, mortifactors, skull bearers)
87- salamanders
94- minotaurs, brazen minotaurs, Taurans, White minotaurs
91- flesh tearers
89- white scars
90- iron hands
93- nova marines, sons of medusa
98- Knights of gryphonne, howling griffons, griffon lords
96- brazen claws, red talons
92- mentors, raptors, white consuls, black consuls, iron Hawks, liberators, warrior adepts (these are slightly different but look more or less like a hawk head)
So that's 42 chapters and I'm sure there's plenty more these are just what I could find, hope it comes in use haha
That's a really good list. I know I will make an effort to include Marines from as many chapters as possible. I am going to probably end up with three Veteran Squad kits, two Vanguard Veteran Squad Kits, and will convert a Tactical Squad into DW. Add in the Kill Team I am going to convert from the Deathwatch Overkill Marines (the Iron Hands Marine is losing his combi-melta and getting a standard bolter, the Space Wolf is losing his combat knife and gaining a plain hand or hand with a grenade in it), I should be good for a Watch Company, and some Auxilliaries. This will be good if Watch Captain Artemis's rules allow him to be used in any formation that has a Watch Captain.
I have been working on Deathwatch for years.
Here is a list of canon chapters and their shoulderpads
Dont underestimate the additional mobility within a squad.
Being able to have one model move 12+ in a turn to the other side of the squad for charging a specific target, countering the loss of models on one side, etc. They also have some different universal rules like skilled rider and split fire from the bikers, cheaper power weapons for the vanguard than on veterans, so on and so forth.
While not typically it presents more tactical options in real time as you are playing the game. Something that I am a very strong fan of.
Personally being able to prevent staying locked after beating a marine unit in combat is gonna be so nice with the terminators.

Yeah, the hard part there is that they cant do it as much with OS.
However even without upgrades the standard veteran squad at 110 points is pretty versatile and can complete many things without upgrades. You can work in a few but most of the time they wont need much.
One of the nice things that the deathwatch allow you to do is basically create units with completely specialized roles(think eldar aspect warriors). They are a focused and can be sent after a specific target. Combine this with deep strikes, liberal availability of psychic powers(via librarians) etc. and versatile chapter tactics you can have a turn by turn adaptable plan of action "Goal this turn is remove X targets" next turn I will target Y targets. So on and so forth.

They also showed an INQ door on one of the land raiders that did not look like the FW ones. I have the feeling that there is going to be an INQ vehicle sprue.

Yeah.....those fliers are too sexy to not have at least three.
The fact that they are dedicated transports for the troop veterans is just icing on the cake.
I mean, that is just so awesome!!! A flight of three in formation flying onto the battlefield guns blazing before setting down and disgorging the special forces!!!!
Makes me so happy to think about it, forging the HARDEST of narratives right now.
Need to see specific wording but overall I am pretty excited to play it in the competitive scene. It gives you what most space marine units lack, the ability to specialize across the board without the other taxes. Their tactics help every model in most situations, so on and so forth. As someone who likes to win with solid tactical play rather than general brute force this really appeals to me.
If stormbolters finally get special ammunition I might finally be able to throw down some terminators. Also, it looks like they get a terminator captain, is it possible they can get the cataphracti terminator upgrade?
Think about it, Terminator, one or two vangaurd with power weapons, a biker. Now you get to rapid fire your bolters into one target, split fire a bolt pistol into another and then still charge!

Personally I like it, gives the option to go things like stalker/shotgun or similar combinations building in some diversity of options. There is no reason to stick with a CCW so might as well get an assault weapon. Also it is better than a bolt pistol in almost any circumstance

Personally I imagine them holstering one while they use the other and vice Versa. Like how on the 30k marines you can put a sword on their back. Personally I find it more weird that people are assuming it is an error when it's the sort of thing you could do before, there was just never an advantage to do so. If anyone would have an advantage of this sort it would be the deathwatch. Stalker shotgun sounds kinda fun I am not gonna lie...

But am definitely going to wait a while before kitting out my Kill Team just to not have to rip any of the miniatures to bits.
Just finished looking through my sprues, the Deathwatch Veterans are one of the coolest and one of the worst SM sprues of the last years. Full of cool bits and options, but only a few of each, so you can't give everyone the same gear. But 6 Power Swords and the upgrade sprues has another one. And every boltgun is one-handed...
I'm glad Deathwatch is finally here, but mad at the same time for a wasted chance. The Vanguard, Sternguard and SM 2015 kits are MUCH better designed in terms of options.
I have the feeling I will be doing a lot of mixing and matching between this, stern guard, and vanguard kits....

Personal it sounds like just the sort of thing deathwatch would do. Sniper stalker bolt guns then when they get too close charge in and shotgun them in the face. I think this is the tradeoff for not being able to get CC specialists in the veteran squad itself and encourages you to add vanguard or the other bikers for versatility.
Also dat overwatch templates -.-.
I know that this might sound trite but damn did they knock the deathwatch book out of the park ruleswise for me.
I have spent so much time magnetizing, so that I could adopt as the situation changes it kind lost a bit of the soul of the game. However now I can make that guy with twin lightning claws, he is the twin lightning claws guy in the squad, or the heavy thunderhammer guy. Because its not a full 5 man squad its no big deal to make up 4-5 different guys to go in the strike forces depending on who they are bringing that battle. I have not been this excited to make specific characters, give them all names, etc in a long while. Time to bust out all the deathwatch books and get my fluff boner going.
I mean it will be so much fun to have different teams with different roles that kind of play out on the battle field.
Squad Zariel, target their infantry on that objective. Squad Sho'Karr eliminate that armored threat.
Super pumped!! Will have to see how much work it is going to take to get shotgun/Stalker on 5 guys as well as just brainstorm some combos as well as points. Its really tough because I want the OS, however it is hard to passup having all the special rules joined to the squad.

Honestly, it doesnt strike me as this super big deal that it needs to be errata-ed or FAQed out. They did it in the past when things like cmd squads couldnt actually buy weapons they needed to buy.
It strikes me as the sort of thing where it is not game breaking in any way, and is pretty cool, so they will just let you play as you play.

In regards to the swapping of equipment I always go with the interpretation that if there is no stated order of operations then you can do which ever.
If it does not say that you have to upgrade to a blackshield first then you can swap to a thunderhammer and then change to a black shield.
Then for things like terminators where you are required to swap specific gear if you do weapon swaps before hand then you no longer meet the requirements.
So on and so forth.

That's how I thought it was.
The SMFAQ says that we can't do that though.
What do you mean? It specifically says the opposite. You can buy stuff then upgrade.

Oh no. Read the codex again (Vanguard Veterans page):
All Vanguard Veterans use those weapons with which they are deadliest. Though many battle-brothers prefer the classic combination of flesh-ripping chainsword and brutal bolt pistol (...)
Such a weapon is nothing for mere tactical veterans. You need to be a highly trained assault specialist or a captain to wield it.
And I'm sat here looking at an imperial guard sergeant wielding one with pride, but my deathwatch sarge can't have one.
I will take a shotgun over a bolt pistol anyday as a tactical marine IMO

Lol, I have so many of those captain kits that I use them as sgts for my squads now.
Still, I am super pumped. Will definitely be getting at least 1-2 of the terminator captain boxes since I am seriously lacking in terminator character models.
Also....I really REALLY want a wing of three corvus blackstars. I would never use them in a competitive game right now but it would be so much fun in a casual game to have them come in to support an ongoing battle. I would just be hearing flight of the valkyries the entire time.
