Looking for a bit of mobile firepower to accompany my Iron warriors and as my heavy support slots are crammed full of tyrants, Havocs and artillery the Fire Raptor is out. As I have plenty of blasts, ideally looking for something which can frag tanks. Leaning towards the Xiphon at the minute, but wondered what people thought about Landspeeders or Kraken equipped Primaris?

If you're worried about heavy tanks (Spartans et al) then the Kraken equipped primaris is the way to go.

Xiphon's are nice, but S8-S9 firepower that ignores jink and has rules relating to the damage roll is best for AV11-13 targets - i.e. other flyers and transports.

A Lightning's Armourbane/Tank Hunter combination is much, much more reliable for punching through a flare shielded AV14 plate. Yes, the weapons are one-use, but a fighter often arrives, fires, and dies in a blaze of glory anyway; even a squad of snap firing havocs can easily blow one away.

If you're taking Perturabo then the flyers can work due to his turn 1 reserves trick, If not then I would skip on them and take the Landspeeders. Xiphons are murder on other air units and light to medium armoured ground units, buts if you are hunting the AV14 big cats then the only correct answer is the Lightning Primaris. Unfortunately the recent Red Book update has bumped up the points cost of the Krakens which makes the one-shot gamble even more intense.

Kraken Primaris w/ BSC for those lovely, lovely Tank Hunter & Armorbane S8 AP1 rockets. That will do wonders against heavy armor targets.

If you have tyrants and havocs why do you need any more anti tank?

Definitely the Lightning. You have a ton of STR 8-9 shots, but you don't have anything that reliably can punch through flare-shielded AV 14. The Land Speeder and Xiphon add more of the same, the kraken Lightning gives you a threat even the flare shielded Spartan has to respect.

Its more for the manouverability. At the moment the armies a bit static so i wanted something that could go hunting once the game gets gets underway.

Are you using perty for turn 1 shenanigans?

Lightning all the way. Best for punching huge holes in almost any armor.
