Is it possible, does anyone know, to bend HIPS plastic in the same way one does resin? So with a heat gun or in boiling water? Or does it just snap?

Somewhere in south-central England.

Use boiling water. HIPS softens above 90 degress C, but a heat gun is probably hot enough to melt it or set it alight.

You need to leave the part in the water for longer if it is thicker, so the heat can penetrate.

Be careful handling it, since it of course will be very hot!

Once you've got the part moved into your new position, run the cold tap over it to remove the heat and set it.
