I think the question was more about "Citadel Air" than "can I use an airbrush to paint things"
I imagine Citadel air would work fine. Acrylics aren't the toughest paints in the world but I imagine you probably aren't too concerned with that.
I'd be more concerned about the price, those little pots don't go very far when you start painting large areas, it takes very little paint to cover even 100x28mm models compared to covering a wall. But it might still be cheaper than buying an alternative if the alternative means you need to buy different thinners. Decanting spray cans in to glass jars is often a good way of getting a decent amount of paint cheaply, but you'll have to get some appropriate thinner to go with it.
Or you can go to a hobby store and get paint designed for painting
RC cars, they usually come in bigger bottles for not much more $$$ (I can get Vallejo Premium Colour from my local hobby store for 66% more per bottle than Citadel, but it comes in 60ml pots that are 5 times larger, which makes them about 1/3 the price). That should also thin with whatever thinner you are using for
GW acrylics.
PU paints like Vallejo Premium should theoretically be tougher than the regular acrylics
GW uses, but I haven't tested that theory myself, there's a lot of variables that go in to determining how tough a paint is.
