Subject: Alpha Legion Coils and Dynat Advice

Hey Guys,
Been playing my Alpha legion for a while now and have an alright collection of models. Couple of things I am now having issues with are this:
1) I want to run Coils RoW, I have the tactical marines to cover the troop choices (Got 35 of them), need to buy a couple of rhinos but that is okay. My issue is I just can't decide what unit to steal, the Suzerain look like a solid choice....but I really hate Ultramarines. Similarly the Tyrant Siege Termies could be fun and a good choice (and i believe are quite a popular one) but beyond that I don't really know (spose it is heavily dependent on what else I run in my army). Also how do people model/paint their stolen unit. Do they model and paint it in the legion colours from where it is stolen? Or do they model and paint it to look ALpha Legion?
2) Got my Dynat model, good fun, WTF DO I RUN HIM WITH. I want a unit for him to join, with my current selection the most suitable unit I have would be my Lernaean Terminators but given I don't have a transport for these guys they are also the best pick for the Deepstrike from Dynat's RoW. Was thinking a command squad perhaps? Alternatively whatever I end up stealing for coils could be a solid choice of unit for Dynat to join.
To help answer these questions I have the following models:
35 Tactical marines (3x Sargents all with fists)
5 PLasma Gun Dudes
Praetor and Consul from B@C
Dynat
Skorr
Sicaran
Contemptor with 2x Assault Cannon
Contemptor with 2x Fists
10 Lernaean Terminators all with power fists
10 Headhunters 1 w/ Heavy Bolter
Happy to purchase whatever is suggested for both Dynat's bodyguard and for the Coils stolen unit!

I admit I'm definitely not the most experienced player (but I felt I just had to help a fellow Alpha out if I can).
1) I think your Coils pick depends on the role you want to fill. My gut feeling is a strong melee unit, but I know people love Tyrant Siege Termies too.
2) I'd say run a command squad, having the legion standard can be pretty handy.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy. |

Cheers for the reply!
I suspect what I take with coils will end up varying from time to time, might playtest a few options against a mate using proxys and see which one fits in better with my army.
And I suspect the command squad will be the way to go, can't really see a better option.

Dude bitchin. personally my plan is to try and use glow in the dark paint in green or blue, and have alpha legion symbols all over it and shine a black light to reveal the deviousness (maybe have a uv led in the base shining up wards with a switch ) (that way i can use them for other armies too)

That Iron Circle shield is the coolest thing I've ever seen. Seriously, that chipping to reveal the AL underneath is brilliant.

Man that looks so good. My mate suggested I try something similar... Doubt I'd be able to pull off that execution! Did you paint over the top and then remove some? Or just not paint bits?

It looks similar to techniques I've seen that use rock salt or hair spray to mask some areas while others get painted over. I've mostly seen it for WW2 minis, but this is a particularly beautiful application.

There is also always chipping fluids and other methods of weathering.
Its probably one of those methods.

Forgot i posted in here, thanks for the nice comments guys - I got that affect using Liquid Mask. Just painted it AL colours, applied the decal, hit it with purity seal then painted on liquid mask when it dried. After that i just painted the IW colours and peeled the liquid mask off.
