Hey guys.
I'm in the process of getting my first army and I had little to no experience painting stuff, so I'm going for a simple paint scheme just to be able to play with those models. Nothing fancy.
The problem is that I chose Metalica from the codex and it shows that that main color is pure white, like ceramite white. However, if you look at the actual pictures of models you can see it's some darker shade of white, maybe with a bit of bage or pink or something else?

Is it some other separate color? Or they used wash for it? Or there is another darker layer beneath it? I don't know and it really bugs me because I really don't want my models to be mostly pure white.
Can anybody help me identify what is it or how to do it? Sure, I'm not aiming for the comparable level of detail but I still would like my stuff to look nice.

Don't worry about official paint jobs, if you want you can paint them any color you want. If you want to make them another color no one will complain.

My advice on painting this if you have little experience:

1: Prime minatures with a black primer (I use this:

2: Dry brush the whole miniature with a silver metallic paint.

3: Paint the parts you want white and red with a light grey paint

4: Dry-brush white over these grey areas to give them highlights.

5: Paint the red marks

6: Paint other color details.

Do this and you should be fine, models like this have a lot of detail and with dry-brushes and washes they can almost paint themselves. If you keep your paint layers thin you can always come back later and do some more work.

It's less about strictly following the codex paint schemes and more about the fact that I do really like that particular scheme, bud the codex does a poor job of presenting basic colors for it.
Still, thanks for the advise, I'll do what I can. Maybe experiment with paints a bit and see how it turns out.

Experimenting is good, better to make mistakes then than when trying to do a whole bunch of guys at once.

If you don't like your experiments, you can easily strip them and paint them again. I use purple power degreaser for that.

Thanks again. There'll be quite a few spare bits and peaces left over after assembly anyway, so I can see how thing look on them before moving to actual models.

Metallica is NOT white, but more of a cream color. According to the Skitarii Paiting Guide the color is Rakarth Flesh, shaded with Agrax Earthshade and highlighted with Pallid Wych Flesh.
