So I'm looking to try and get a herald of tzeentch model here pretty soon and on GW the only option seems to be buying it with a flying disc but the description does not seem to come with its own round mini base to field it by himself or if its even possible to.

Just wanted to know if it comes with its own base or is possible to use without the disc, as when you summon a herald when using malefic, it says it gets 30 points of upgrades worth, and the disc costs 25 but sounds like you're forced to buy the disc if its stuck on the thing. Just want to prepare either way before I get one, thank you for any feedback!

The official herald of tzeentch model is the the one from the burning chariot and it has the option to be built on foot

Everything else are sorcerers not heralds

A lot of the Daemon stuff comes with those square fantasy bases, you could put him on that. Or if you have any extra round bases.
Honestly I'd be fine playing against if he was on the disc but you didn't take the upgrade and treated him as infantry, it's not like you're trying to pass of a pink horror model as a daemon prince and besides it looks cooler and that's the only way they sell it.

WAAAGH!!!

Never buy the finecast herald on disc. For the same price you can buy the Burning Chariot and make the same thing, except it looks cooler and in awesome plastic (as well as scoring you two Screamers and three tiny horrors to boot).

The Burning Chariot's Herald can also be built on foot (the set comes with a base to do this).

If you must use the finecast one, it does look like you can just glue him onto a base without the disc, but you'll have to buy that separately.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

GW sells a herald by itself on a disc, just buy a gaunt summoner in the AoS section. You can buy a herald by itself and you also get a free burning chariot of tzeench to boot!

I've used a pink horror with added bits, a cool base and a different paint job.... I have never had a single person complain... I've done the same and put it on a Screamer for a herald on disc. Again, never had a complaint and most people are all "oh that's so cool"

If you want a Tzeentch Herald on foot, without having to buy a Burning Chariot, the plastic 'Chaos Sorcerer Lord' in the Fantasy Range is a decent alternative. There used to be a specific Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord too which was even more appropriate, but it seems to be have been discontinued...
