Hi Everyone!
The Dakka Dakka community has been amazingly helpful with my previous posts
here and
here regarding my personal "playing in someone else's sandbox" writing project as I tend to write by building a primer as a guide.
So this is my final input request and this one is a bit more of a stretch than the previous two as it regards the cast of my project. If this scale of input in unwelcome in this forum, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to remove this post.
I've listed the cast below in quasi Horus Heresy style for feedback.
Notable Crew Of the Aurora Fortuna Lord Caastor Bellamy Patriarch of the Bellamy Rogue Trader Dynasty, Lord-Captain of the
Aurora Fortuna • Caastor is young by the standards of both Rogue Traders and Lord-Captains, being several decades away from even needing to consider juvenat treatments.
• Caastor is something something of a mystery to the Imperium's powers-that-be. As he is nothing more than a footnote in most records until 12 Terran Standard years before the story begins during a mysterious Void Altercation with the Ultramarines 6th Company.
• That past event had a profound effect on Caastor thrusting him into the patriarch role as well as illuminating him to several galactic truths. Despite his education, illumination and experience loaths learning new languages thus is only fluent in high/low gothic.
• Caastor is get-his-hands-dirty style Rogue Trader. Preferring to join expeditions personally despite the danger.
• Caastor is not a Psyker, Null, or Blank. He is not Genehanced nor Cybernetically augmented. However, Psykers cannot sense/read his mind. It's as if the Warp finds him unpalatable.
Epistolary Dionius Lexius Epistolary of the Ultramarines 6th Company, Currently Seconded to the Bellamy Dynasty
• Dionius joined the crew 12 years prior in the same event that put Caastor in charge.
• Dionius has a natural affinity for Telepathy, but is self-admittedly unreliable when it comes to Divination while judging himself "adequate for his rank" in other disciplines.
• Numerous current reports show Dionius deferring to Caastor's command, save for a few occasions when the Librarian gives Caastor orders that the young Rogue Trader follows unquestionably, but not without complaint as if under duress.
• Dionius has all but replaced the Master Astropath aboard the
Aurora. Though it is known to Inquisition that the current Astropathic choir came aboard 12 years prior and are loyal to the Ultramarines, not the Bellamy Dynasty.
• Dionius is definition of a Warrior-Scholar, the latter he shares with Caastor, giving the two something of a friendship.
"Nora" Scenchnal to Caastor Bellamy, Accountant and Stockmaster of the
Aurora Fortuna • "Nora" is a sanctioned Abhuman, a Beastman of Vulpine-like stock. Her sanctioning was done at great cost to Caastor almost two decades prior.
• Nora while cursed with a horrible, disgusting, abhuman body, was blessed by the Emperor with a mind that can run circles around Cogitators when it comes to crunching numbers and keeping pace with Augmented Humans when it comes to recall.
• Caastor considers Nora a incredibly worthwhile investment, while he does little to stop her rightful deserved derision. he does consider any "attack" on her to be an attack on his investments.
• As an Abhuman, Nora's loyalty is constantly in question, save for her loyalty to Caastor which is troublesomely absolute.
• Nora is fluent in dozens of Imperial Dialects as well as a handful of Xenos tongues, often serving as a translator for Caastor.
Lady Annespereth Bellamy Scion of the Bellamy Dynasty, Lady-Commander of the Bellamy's Private Army.
• Annespereth is Caastor's elder sister, as per Bellamy Tradition as the eldest female child. She was raised to command the private army that serves the dynasty aboard the
Aurora.
• Annsepereth is ultimately beholden to Caastor's command. He does tend to defer to her judgement regarding the
Aurora's armsmen and the private army beholden to the Dynasty.
• Annsepereth has an "antagonistic yet tolerable" relationship with Dionius, ultimately viewing him as a threat to the Dynasty.
• Annsepereth has been heavily genehanced and cybernetically augmented for combat.
• Annsepereth was away 12 years prior overseeing the purchase of pair of dilapidated Malchador Super-Heavy Tanks from a private collector, as such is not privy to the events that occurred.
Ansgaf Stonefang Wolfguard of the Vlka Fenryka, Current Wolf-at-the-Side to the Bellamy Dynasty.
• Ansgaf is the most senior member of the
Aurora's crew by several hundred years and is the longest serving Wolf-at-the-Side having held the position for 5 generations of Bellamy's.
• Ansgaf is a respected member of the Space Wolves, having served two tours of duty with the Deathwatch after becoming a Wolfguard. Though he seemingly does all he can to avoid his own chapter.
• It is known that Ansgaf "requested" the role of "Wolf-at-the-Side" upon his return from his second tour with the Deathwatch and has held it ever since.
• Ansgaf among his many experiences is a Voidfang and is often given/left command of the
Aurora when Caastor belives his own experience to be lacking.
• Ansgaf was the source of the signal that drew the Ultramarines 6th company 12 years prior. Relying on an old contact from his Deathwatch service as no Space Wolf Vessels were close enough. The contact was not Dionius.
Magos Caiphera Val Arch-Magos, Magos-Explorator and Master of the Engineerium of the
Aurora • Caiphera is from Mars itself, though she never fit in. It was clear from an early point she would be an Explorator.
• Caiphera did "technically" undergo the Rite of Pure thought. However she kept the removed portions of her brain and had them reinstalled with a cutoff switch. Allowing her to enable her humanity at a whim.
• Caiphera's exact age is difficult to pin down. Though she was well acquainted with the cantankerous Machine Spirit of the
Aurora at least two centuries before Ansgaf arrived.
• When Caastor was a young child, Caiphera was one of his tutor's thus became a mother figure to the future Rogue Trader. He trusts her counsel above all others.
• Caiphera has spent enough time as an Explorator to become distrustful of the main branch of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
Members of the Emperor's Inquisition Inquisitor Serena Isyra Junior Inquisitor of the Centauri Cabal and Ordo Malleus.
• Serena is a newly minted Inquisitor. Having inherited her Rosarius, Retinue and resources from her recently deceased master.
• Serena was sent straight to investigate the
Aurora after her master's death, not even having time to be debriefed.
• Serena is a psyker of average power, though her training was incomplete on more advanced abilities.
• Serena is in no way "prepared" for her new role, but the situation demanded it and the inquisition dealt with it be sending her on her current mission.
• Serena is a swordswoman and carries a custom made sword-cane that contains a force-weapon.
Albastan Thero Inquisitorial Savant
• Albastan is horribly deformed: Hunchbacked, blind in one eye, deformed face, molted skin, gnarled hands.
• Albastan has served the Inquisiton for decades, even willingly becoming infected with a Memevirius.
• Albastan has outlived two prior inquisitors and has no issue telling Serena that he plans to outlive her.
• Albastan has no ambition beyond his current station. "Imagination without Ambition"
• Albastan while no Techpriest is very skilled when it comes to Cogitators and other networked systems, allowing him to break in with some to little difficulty.
Kypa Red-14b Former Skitarius, Inquisitorial Agent
• Kypa was a Skitarius assigned to a Titan Legio, however she was washed out in the final stages of her training/augmentation.
• Kypa was recruited/rescued by Serena's previous master. She a capable combatant, pilot and in a pinch rudimentary enginseer.
• Kypa's body clearly bears two types of Augmentations. Mechanium augmentations and those provided by the Inquisition.
• Kypa was recruited along the same time as Serena, She is the closest thing Serena has to a friend.
• Kypa has a dislike of the Mechanium as they deemed her wanting, yet the inquisition found her useful.
Rolf Armason Former Arbites, Interrogator to Inquisitor Serena
• Rolf was an Interrogator before, then alongside Serena to their former master. On his death, she was chosen over him to take up the Rosarius.
• Rolf is a firm believer in the Imperial Creed and the Imperial Law, seeing value in structure and able to see corruption in it as well.
• Rolf's pride was hurt when he was passed over for the Rosarius, however he tries not to let it affect his duty.
• Rolf unlike many Inquisitorial Agent's still has a living family that he writes too. His service has greatly improved their lives.
• Rolf see's the death of much of his old masters retinue as his fault as he was only able to save himself, Serena, Kypa and Albastan.
• Despite Rolf's wounded pride, he has and continues to treat Serena and Kypa as surrogate daughters. Though his relationship with Serena has become strained.
Fist of Marduk Chaos Warband Ramses Shalmaneser Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons, Leader of the Fist of Marduk warband.
• Ramses is a veteran of the Long War. He opposed the Rubric, but was not summoned to the Planet of the Sorcerers until after the Burning of Prospero.
• Ramses does not tolerate unstable chaos mutation in his warband. Violently expunging it from his ranks and his ship:
Marduk's Wrath • Ramses is remarkably forgiving of his underlings, tolerating failure to a degree as long as the agent has potential.
• Ramses does not "hate" the Imperium nor the Loyalists. He does not hold any fondness for the Traitor Legions as well.
• Ramses pity's the current Imperium and Legions. Though he respects what Abbadon has done, not how he's done it. Hence why he currently serves the Warmaster.
Sloval Durn Warsmith of the Fist of Marduk, Formerly of the Iron Warriors.
• Sloval and Ramses where friends prior to the Heresy, the only oaths they have never broken are to each other.
• Sloval has never been to Mendrengard. He was lost in the Eye of Terror until he was found by Ramses.
• Sloval maintains Ramses's Terminator Armour, He is constantly tinkering on his friends venerable warplate.
• Sloval has created a "Geller Overlay" that supplements the
Marduk's Wrath's preventing the ship itself from becoming corrupted.
• Sloval hates Elis with a rare passion, something Elis is all to happy to stoke.
Elis Orion Apothecary of the Fist of Marduk, Formerly Emperor's Children, Formerly Black Legion, etc
• Elis has jumped ship from more warbands than most people can name. However, Elis is not a veteran of the Long War.
• Elis is considered an abomination by most for the art they have created, even though a rare traitor Apothecary .
• Elis has altered his body into that of a she in pursuit of "perfect, uncorrupted, beauty" using heretical science.
• Elis considers herself an artist, not as scientist. Her methods are equally likely to leave her wards mewling piles of plasm as cure them.
• Elis is loyal to Ramses as he is tolerant of her art as long as she does not cause unstable warp mutations.
These are the top level notes of the characters I plan to put in the project, I'd very much like input on them. Please feel free to share your input on any or all of them, Point out if any of them are diving too close established characters or if there is something glaringly out of place with a character.
Thank you again in advance for your input! if the last two posts are anything to go on, after this I'll finally have my primer and can get cranking!
