-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Dominatus Kill Team is joined by the Chaplain and the Watch Master in the Corvus Blackstar. On assault, they reroll dice for charge distance (vanguard vet), ignore dangerous terrain (biker), can Jink 3+ (biker), reroll to hit (Zealot), reroll to wound if target is Elite or contains Psyker, Warlord or IC. On the way to their target, the meltagun takes advantage of split fire to shoot a vehicle or something else.

The frag cannon and infernus heavy bolter kill teams are for dropping on objectives or next to dangerous targets to vaporize them.

The last squad is to drop on an objective where they can use their special ammo to good effect.

If one of the non-melee units gets stuck in a combat it doesn't want to be in, or the assault unit needs support, the Watch Master can pull one of the heavy gun squads over via the Beacon Angelis.

The Inquisitor joins up with one of the squads when they pod in, and tries to mix it up with his rad grenades and needle pistols.

I'm not sure how I feel about bringing only 4 squads to an 1850 point game, but I do feel that each squad will do well at what its designed to do. That melee unit is a massive point sink, though, and I'd probably be better off just sticking with MSU and bringing regular vet squads or more Aquila Kill Teams.

Looks really interesting! I'm impressed with how much war gear and how many librarians you've been able to squeeze into this list. I've personally been looking at the Watch Company formation too since you get those automatic rerolls against Warlord, Psykers and ICs. It's expensive but I'm thinking of giving a black shield a heavy thunder hammer. Double attacks with that thing are really going to hurt.

Stupid question but I'm curious why you have drop pods? I don't have my codex with me at the moment but doesn't the whole formation get deep strike for free?

They do, but drop pods still have their Inertial Guidance special rule, which I'm thinking is gonna help a lot. Plus, drop pods allow the alpha strike, whereas just deep striking the units on their own don't start dropping in until turn 2 (and is roll-dependent).

Also, I'd say try the list out first if you want, but I think shooting is gonna be better than melee like 95% of the time. Use the beacon to get key shooters out of melee, is my plan. I think another Aquila would be better, personally.

Look like a fun list to play and its offensive capabilities seams good. The only thing I can think of will be a problem is low model count and not much high T or high AV. I think the list will work great in friendly games!

Based on precise wording, you can't give the black shield a heavy thunder hammer, from what I recall, though I don't have the book in front of me right this minute. I believe HTH can be given to veterans, and since Black Shield is a separate statistics entry, I believe it would no longer qualify as a veteran when upgraded.

I gave him two weapons for AP3 spam, though I'm not certain whether by "Attacks" it means "Attack Characteristic" or "total number of attacks".

Deep strike is great, but drop pods are safer. To get reliable non-scatter deep strike with the black spear you're going to need a lot of teleport homers, which run 10 points apiece, and you're going to need to start a few guys with said homers on the field. Drop pods get 2 in the first turn, and then 1 more once you roll for it, which is far more reliable. If they didn't have pods for arrival on first turn, the only model you'd have on the table to start the game is one lonely Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, hiding behind cover and gaking his pants while calling shrilly for backup.

Shooting is absolutely going to be better for DW 95% of the time. However, they can make some crazy assault units, though it's costly. Adding all the infantry models costs together (Watch Master, Chaplain, Dominatus Kill Team), you come to 640 points. Add in the Corvus Blackstar and you're at 830 points in that one assault unit. That's the cost of like two and a half Aquila Kill Teams with ML2 Librarian and 4x frag cannon. It's definitely a unit that you're going to want to support and to keep clear of things that'll make it regret its life choices if it finds itself stuck in the open (the relic will help a little with that).

I'm also a bit concerned with the low model count. If I have to take out a vehicle, I can throw the assault unit at it with their meltabombs, or blast it with missiles from the blackstar.

However, considering my signature lists 5000+ points of Catachans, while you may view a low model count as a bad thing, I can't say I feel the same.
