Hello again Dakka,

I will be going up against a skitarii force next week and I have yet to encounter them on the table. Below is the first draft for what I'm planning to bring along, I don't want to tailor, but I was wondering if I could get some feedback as to how this kind of list will fare against that army at this kind of points level, and just some general thoughts on some of my other options.

I have on the bench;
- 2 units of 5 scourges with haywire blasters
- 2 void Raven bombers
- a billion raiders and warriors
- 15 reavers with 1 caltrops per 3.
- lots of other less viable stuff (no covens models though)

I don't play dark eldar (yet; I'd like to at some point) but, to the best of my knowledge, that looks like a pretty solid list. depending on what your opponent brings, you will probably be ok. The biggest issue will likely be if they have an imperial knight, although they may have lots of smaller walkers as well.

I know for a fact there isn't going to be a knight.

I'd consider dropping some razorwings/ravagers for the reavers. Also, give even the normal kabalites blasters or any kind of special weapon.

I don't think its typically a good idea to give special weapons to the normal kabalite warriors (splinter cannons on raiders with racks being the exception).

Blasterborn its a different situation though. However, I'm still unsure about how well they will perform nowadays anyway.

Honestly, this looks like one of the best all around forces you can bring as Dark Eldar. Obviously taking Eldar allies is the accepted wisdom, but if I had to go pure DE this would be what I'd want.

The downside is it really has nothing to counter the stuff DE are usually weak against, Drop Pods, psychic death stars, Tau with lots of ignore cover bs, but honestly there isn't much you can do about that stuff anyway.

I'd argue for reavers and scourges over Ravagers (and thus argue for taking a Real Space Raiders detachment instead of a Combined Arms)

Scourges are far better at removing hull points

Reavers are a terrific fast harassment unit in squads of ~9

Something to consider. Is there any really heavy armour that I'm going to have to worry about??

How about something like this?? There's 5 points to spare, but this is a lot stronger I think.

What about putting in a Voidshield Generator? to protect all your vulnerable craft turn 1.

Does it HAVE to fit into 1 detachment? If not, I would drop 1 Ravager in favor of a VSG, then add another Lhamaean to reorganize the list as 2 CADs. Never underestimate ObSec.

It's okay to use multiple detachments, the only thing stopping me from running dual CAD is the lack of a second Lhamean model.

Is it really worth running a VSG? How would I represent that on the table? Seeing as the game is tonight, I'll probably go with a dual CAD with a second Lhamean if I can find a model for it.

I'll post here again with the final list I decide on and the results of the game tomorrow.

I will second the dual CAD idea. ObSec is an amazing ability, and one that we are able to use/abuse to the fullest with our fast transports.

To make my Lhamean I kitbashed a bunch of warrior and wych parts. Looks pretty good too.

That's what I'm considering. I have a legit Lhamean akready, but I think I'm going to kitbash a pair as well. For the asthetics.

Alright, the results are in.

My opponent conceded the game at the top of turn 5.

I played second and ran the second list I posted in this thread.

Loosing out on ebjrctives early, but passing some lucky saves and denying one flank with my deployment. Then counterattacked and absolutely decimated everything with a toughness value on one side of the table. The swept up a flank while taking out every unit in the way. All up, it ended up being a close game towards the end with the luck shifting way back in the opposite direction against me, but the early damage was enough to secure the win.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with how everything performed.
