Can you get all the rules you need for miniatures and playing the game from the GW website or is there some advantage or required information in the physical Grand Alliance books?

The Grand Alliance books comes with formation types, which aside from the legacy codex types they are not on the site.

The New battletomes (After Sylvaneth) come with Allegiance rules as well.

Not true. The grand alliance books just contain the free material in a printed books.

The battletomes are the ones that contain the additional material that you would have to purchase from the app. If you want the printed pdfs in a big pretty color book buy the grand alliance books but if you don't want them that bad then save the money and spend it on battle tomes that contain background, battle plans, and battalions

The Grand Alliance books (with the exception of Destruction, I believe) come with the Warscroll Battalions which are not available on the website (not sure about the app).

The battalions not in the battletomes are in the app for free they should also be in the pdfs. There is no additional content in the grand alliance books that is not already free on the app or the pdfs. That's from my own looking and from gw employees.

Not true Namiel. There are battalions in the Grand Alliance books that are not available elsewhere for free.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

In the Grand Alliances Books. Every faction has a battalion or two, and many don't appear anywhere else except for the Grand Allaince Books (and need to be paid for in the app). For example, 'Freeguild Regiment'.

You can, however, buy the "Grand Alliance: Order" pack on the app and get access to all of those Battalions at a reduced rate compared to the actual book. If you prefer physical, just buy it, it's totally worthwhile.
