Several of the kill teams have a line that says: Any number of choices in any combination from the following list:.

0 is a number, so can you create a kill team with just the other components listed and not picking any of the additional choices?

RAW yes.

RAI also yes, since in the Aquila kill team it says "One or more"

If they wanted it to be one or more in the others, they would have worded it that way too IMO.

But then again the Death Watch codex is a mess, so who knows.

A mess? What else is amiss?

My one gripe are no bolt pistols on veterans. All other marines have bolt pistols....why not DW veterans.

And captains can only have relic blades if they have terminator armor....

Kill teams are a mess in general.
They all force you to take footsloggers them let you mix mobile models in to create a unit that must be deployed together and can't be separated out. Brilliant mobility that has to be conga-lined into combat.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

To be fair, Kill Team Cassius already has this problem so it's not like it's entirely unexpected.

I think GW was tired of people min-maxing their squads when the boxes were meant to have everyone with a different weapon, so they hardcoded the rules for the new Astartes with this in mind.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Looks like I'll be mostly running mine as CAD or Allied Detachment.

Any of the Kill Teams that use "any of the below" already have one or more vanguard or termies required.

You're not getting free rules for a 5 man unit of veterans.

So you can't have any kill team of only veterans, but where it says "any of the below" 0 is a valid number to take.
