After picking up the Death Masque box set and buying the Deathwatch half of another, I've wound up with two Venerable Dreadnaughts. What would be the either the best all-around or complimentary load outs for them?

I have ran mine in the basic load out of PF and Multi Melta. They usually serve me well or die horribly, but thats the case for every walker I use.

I'd just stick with anything that doesn't cost points. Paying for Venerable can be worth it, but it then becomes super expensive.

With the Ven. Dread kit you don’y get all the options.

TLLC, AsC, PC
Fist (SB or HF)

Now, it’s not hard to make a MM arm, if you have a spare kicking around from a attack bike/speeder/other. But the kit does not include it.

The TLLC and AsC are roughy equal IMHO, with the PC being a bit behind. The assault cannon gets a lot more milage out of the BS5 and any buffs, due to the number of shots and lack of TL'ing. So I tend to favor them on Vens, or in general as an Ultramarine (with all our doctrines)

There is not a whole lot of long range firepower in the DW list. The dread is a place you can get some. So that’s a point for the TLLC.

If you have the points, get the HF. Burn the xenos.

If you have the skills, magnetize. Or just don’t glue. The ven dreads arms use a peg/slot system that should let you swap weapons with no problem, just as long as you paint the spare bits. Best of both worlds.

I find it bizarre that you don't get a melta in the box, especially when it comes as default wargear.

Anyway, luckily you get the parts to make all 3 weapons that are in the box. I also have two, and I'm building all the weapons so I can swap them when I wish, and I'm giving one power fist a storm bolter, and the other power fist a heavy flamer. I'll probably use one Dread as the one from Death Masque, and the other Dread with an assault cannon and power fist with the heavy flamer. But like I said, I'll be able to swap the weapons as and when, so the only difference will be the storm bolter and heavy flamer.
