Recently picked up the General's Handbook and it states that under the Destruction Allegiance my army gets Rampaging Destroyers trait, and my general gets a command trait. The army I'm building up is Greenskinz exclusively, and according to the points lists I can take Boar Boyz as Battleline if I take the Greenskinz Allegiance.

So if I take the Greenskinz allegiance I get Boar Boyz as Battleline troops, but do I lose out on the Rampaging Destroyers? Also does my general lose access to the Destruction command traits if my army is Greenskinz allegiance? To put it another way - aside from Battleline Boar Boyz is there any other point in taking Greenskinz Allegiance?

Hope that makes sense. Apologies if I've missed something fundamental, I've literally just picked up the book a few days ago.

Eeeeh, wargaming weren't like this back in my day!

You can take Greenskinz Allegiance and still use Destruction Allegiance abilities, was covered in an FAQ.
