It's been a little while since I've posted any pics, so here are some vehicles It's not really that I haven't painted much; more so that I'm chipping away at finishing my Blood Angels, and a lot of it is repetitive stuff.

I must confess that part of the reason for snapping these ones is that I have a new camera jig that allows me to take photos from directly above the subject, including above a gaming board, that I wanted to try out. But there's some nifty stuff in here anyhow, like FW doors, and Blood Angels decals. Incidentally, I discovered a new area favorite surface prep for decals -- I am coating the decal area with Vallejo airbrush flow improver. This seems to smooth out the area perfectly, while adding almost no volume. After I finished with the decals, I airbrushed them with Lahmian medium, to return it to the same glossiness as the rest of the model.

There are quite a few decals between these models, so you can judge for yourself. The gold scribblies on the side of the Whirlwind is a good example of how it blends in, between the decal area and the non-decal area. The white text on the other two vehicles is a pretty good example of how flat it goes down.

The gold BA icon (the one that says "ANGEL") and the Aquillas were done using 1 coat of the glossy Reikland, and 1 coat of non-gloss Agrax Earthshade, over top of Retributor. They were then drybrushed with the new Skullcrusher Brass and Stormhost Silver. I actually quite like the way that turned out; it was a very easy (super fast) way of doing a convincing gold.

@Tpiddy - Very steady hands.

>> JOKING!! <<

Those are the decals from the Blood Angels transfer sheet. I actually really love the gold decals. I did a pair of the decal doors, too, which are pretty cool, but the Forge World doors are still much nicer. I'll use them somewhere, I suppose -- I think I still have 3 more Razorback/Rhinos to go (for a total of 9).

Thanks, Bottle & toughttrauma

Once upon a time, I painted my Rhinos with black inside the window and a little radiating half-blue glow (very easy with an airbrush) -- I think I got the idea from a GW studio model somewhere -- I'm not sure why I stopped (it's just darkened with a wash now). It's a good point though, as the inside should be darker!
