My airbrush recently kicked the bucket so I am looking at replacing it. Not sure what to go with though. I am trying to keep the cost under $100 CDN. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have a Chinese "makeup" airbrush. Love it. Cost me $22 bucks, works better than any other I've owned. They're not in the same quality category as the $350 rigs but they blow everything below that out of the water.

You should be able to get a Bader Sotar 20/20 off Amazon for that. Great airbrush.

I can't really decide if I should just go the cheap chinese air brush or go for a little more pricey one. I would like to still be able to do some fine line stuff and I have no idea how one of those cheap models would work for that. Although for the most part I only use them for basecoating my models since it saves a ton of time so I think a cheap one may be the way to go for now.

Do you have a brand or a link you could share?

I wish I had skipped the Chinese knockoff and went straight for the Badger Sotar.

I fill my mouth with water, paint my lips then read then watch Fox News.

Very effective way of spraying.

Quick searched eBay and didn't find my exact Chinese brush.
The big issue with the no-name knock offs is quality control. Sure, you could luck out like I did and end up with your new favorite rig. You could also end up with a useless hunk of metal.
If I were doing it again I'd probably just save up and get something from Badger. Their work ethic is commendable and they stand by their products.
That said, $20ish is a great price if you're willing to take a gamble....

I took an airbrush course a few years ago when I was doing auto body and the instructor suggested a Peak C-5 for a cheap but effective airbrush around $100 that is capable of good fine line work. From what I understand it is a chinese knock off of Iwata products and is suppose to be comparable for almost half the price of Iwata but I have also read some mixed reviews. Anyone ever tried one of these airbrushes? The badger airbrushes I looked at seem to be all over 100 and that is before shipping.

don't buy a peak. Save up and buy a paasche talon or badger krome/patriot/star. I bought an iwata for 86 dollars last Christmas on Amazon but parts are expensive.

The talon seems to be a good option. Found one for $80 but the shipping to canada is just under $40. The reviews I have read are good

I own a badger patriot, it's under $100 and has nice, smooth action

It's slightly pricier, (about $140-150), but the Iwata Eclipse HP-CS was my first airbrush and remains my weapon of choice to this day. It can take a beating (which is necessary especially when experimenting with mixing mediums), easy to clean, very reliable, worth every penny! A friend of mine got the Revolution, which is about $50 cheaper and is just as rugged.

Just over $100 but you can get a Badger Patriot here (in Canada) http://www.meeplemart.com/store/p/2030-Badger-Patriot-105.aspx

I have a cheapy Masters G series airbrush I got on Amazon that is my workhorse. I bought it for metallics and varnish but I pretty much use it for everything - for several years.

I have also have an "Iwata" Neo Pistol-Grip that is fairly cheap and AWESOME... if you're doing long projects the pistol grip is so nice; it feels like you have less control at first but it doesn't take long to get used to.
