Hey, all, I'm thinking about making making a Ordo Astartes militant branch themed army, with marines trained to kill marines. I will be using a small allied detachment of Deathwatch to do this, but was looking for advice on who to ally them with. I have a few ideas, but would like input, including on what to run on suggestions. My thoughts were Minotaurs with Asterion Moloc, since they get the bonus' against marines, my only worry here is they don't really have a formation, and I'm worried Dark Fury might be amended to include the Deathwatch, making them desperate allies. Note: this is the same reason I decided against Carchadons, I don't want to deal with desperate allies. I was then thinking either Blood Angels in a flesh Tearer force, or Ultramarines. Since I haven't played with my DW, I don't really know what they lack that allies could make up for, let's hear your thoughts, Dakka?

Anyone really, that's the whole thing about them is they are a force that fits into any army, I would say maybe a guard army or tempest, kit them for me lee, drop pod them in and smash up back lines

The main issue I've been warned about with MT is that DW basically does the same thing but better?

No inquisition or Knights? Those seem like good choices.

I plan to run my DW in the capacity of Inq or Knights outside of a pure DW list.

I'm gonna say blob IG. Skitarii a very close second. However I do like the concept of Tempestus/DW as an Army Rangers with Delta Force support BHD theme.

I like it too, but it seems like I am aiming for bodies with mine, and I managed to a lot more bodies outside the MT.

I don't have my codex yet, but as I understand it DW are a bit like GKs in that they're elite space marine infantry and lack much with regards to tanks. as such I'd reccomend eaither guard OR,mm space marines running a armored might list. or yes Imperial Knights

Dark Angels are against marines (csm) as like Space Wolves (Emperor's own marine killers).

Whenever I run my pure Deathwatch, I plan on including one of the Knights. Probably an Errant, but a Paladin is also a possibility. When I run my Deathwatch as an ally, they will be attached to my Crimson Fists. I plan on using the Corvus Blackstar as a way to ferry my CC-focused Crimson Fists around once it is on the board.

apparently as of codex deathwatch the deathwatch are actually independant allies of the inqusition. (me I like to think the Inqusition just lets them THINK that )

Zoggy, It's cause I wouldn't run a full detachment of Inquisition. I plan to run the DW as you would Inq Detach, a kill team or two, not a BSSF. So, I want to add a Inq, but only the one, not a retinue or anything.
