When running vanguard or rangers, what squad size is best for either unit?

I had the thought that running squads of 5 allow you to get more special weapons per person, but i'm not sure of any of the other benefits/disadvantage that squad sizes give.

What size squads do you run your vanguard/rangers as?

Some people swear by 5 men squads. I use to run full sized especially with Vanguard. I think it's preference, if running Arc Rifles I would run minimum squads. If running plasma full squads. If bare bones Vanguard, full sized.

If your in war convocation and have the points run full squads for the extra free weapon.

If you are just playing casual games, I use the troops as my fill in points. So I put in 5 man squads and if I need to add extra points thats where I do it.

Like others have said it's more to your preference. Personally I don't really run rangers except to camp an objective on my side. If I do choose to run them it's with 3 Snipers and an omnispec and nothing else. Why it's simple the Rangers just aren't that useful.

Vanguard however I am nigh in love with. As to size it's purely if they're getting special weapons. Arc rifles I'll min to hide in terrain until I can hopefully get them close enough to hurt some armor. Plasmas I'll rarely take as they're really just ok at priority deleting of tougher units. Barebones however I'm a huge fan of min squads purely because they're cheap and 15 shots per squad is nothing to laugh at when it can put the hurt on every unit with Toughness in the game.

I like full 10 man squads with arc rifles and omni-spex. Have enough bodies to cover the special weapons when needed and can put out a devastating amount of haywire shots!
