I'm a long time Guard player, and I've recently decided to create a smaller Minotaurs Space Marine army, to act as allies, and purely for variation in smaller games. I've had the "Betrayal at Calth" lying around for a while and I don't expect I'm going to play it, so I decided I would use the models for a small Minotaurs army I've had on the drawing board for a couple of years.

With that in mind, I went out and bought one Land Raider and the only Rhino they had in the shop. Unlike most of my Guard tanks (with the exceptions of my CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT), these two models have interior details, and I'm now wondering what I should do with them. How common is it to paint the interiors and allowing the doors to open and close? I've assembled the Land Raider with masking tape, to work out how I'll put it together, and the front door doesn't close as neatly as I would have preferred, but perhaps this would be different as soon as everything is painted. Do people generally glue the doors shut, not bothering with the interiors? I'm very tempted to do just that.

I'm also planning to use FW Minotaurs doors with my tank, in which case I would be replacing the upper panel of the front Land Raider door with a resin FW replacement. How well do these FW replacement doors work in combination with the original door mechanism? I'm also thinking of getting a FW Land Raider Achilles at some point, and I'm pretty sure the door doesn't open on that model.

I always paint vehicle interiors:

And some, I assume, are good people."

It depends on what either the client wants, or how much inner hatred and self loathing I feel towards myself that day.

I have to paint the insides, if only with a basic basecoat and wash.

You will regret it if you glue the doors shut!

I rarely paint the insides.
I'd imagine that the FW doors would be a pain to make work and are fragile to boot. They're hard enough to fit ad non moving doors and are often badly cast.
Personally I'd just buy one set of FW doors and press mold them and use on the plastic doors if I was going to make one that opened and closed.

Everyone: No.
Oli: But it fits through the doors, Look!

I paint the inside of every vehicle I paint. I also tend to open the doors at times though so it looks nicer when I do open them. I'd recommend at least a quick paint job. It'd be easy to just do silver, toss a wash on it, and then do a quick highlight, and it'd look way better than resin or plastic gray. On my LR I tend to open the door because I tend to have a squad of terminators with a librarian riding in it, and it can be easier to put one model on the front ramp than both on top. For the Drop Pods, it just looks way better with the doors being able to open. For my Storm Raven, I magnetized the hurricane bolters so I tend to open it up quite a bit to put them on/take them off.

Lastly, the LR door replacement: I did the BA doors, and they work perfectly fine (that doesn't mean it's a perfect fit, but it's close enough to not be even slightly garish). Based on fit I wouldn't know it was FW if I didn't remember ordering it.
