Hey, loooooooong shot here but anyone know a Aussie Lieutenant who went by the nick name Skinner? I can not remember his name, as he just had us call him Skinner. I heard he got sick, and never had a way to get in touch with him. For some reason he just popped into my mind as I was day dreaming about better times on top of Fire Base FML.

This is not really related, but in my youth I got to spend a night down at the local police station for free. There's not much to do in there but read the graffiti scratched into the paint. The only one that really stuck with me was "Skinner beating ain't no crime". Upon release, I asked what a skinner was. (this was before the internet. You had to ask people things back then). Turns out "skinner" is slang for rapist.

I hope to hell that isn't also true in Aussie land.

Skinner has a...variety of meanings down here, but I must admit that 'rapist' isn't one I've heard. But most of the meanings (including the main one) are pretty hard to express on a family friendly forum. Anyway, PM sent.

Lts aren't in short supply - and Australia is about the same continental landmass as the US (with less than 10% of the population, so they're spread somewhat further apart).

But on a more serious note, isn't there some way of tracking down a point of contact at his unit's base in OZ and see if there's a means for getting a message to him?

I literally do not know his unit, he was just tasked out to be with us, because we were the ones providing all the fire support for the Australian area of operations. He was a liaison between us and that snotty Captain I always talked to on the radio. I wanna say his first name was luke. He was in Oruzgan province in 2012, got sent home for a medical condition, could do 100 pullups without breaking a sweat, and loved the hedgehogs that were up there with us.

I knew it was .000001 chance of anything coming up but figured might as well toss out a hail Marry.

wow, missed this reply, sorry. Yes RC South. COP Wali was the name of their COP and I was on the mountain at Fire Base FML.

NO idea which elements were assigned there. They always had Red Bull though. Would walk down the mountain to their dining facility and take some then haul ass up the side before anyone said anything.
