I absolutely love the FW Avatar model. I will be including one in my army at some point even if they aren't the best unit. That being said what battlefield role do they fill best? Any recommendations as to what to run next to one?

What else do you have in your army? If you have anything remotely CC, run the Avatar near those units.
If you have blobs are Guardians or Winriders, keep them within 12" for Fearless and the Avatar can be a great counter assault threat.

Outside of that, there really isn't a use for him that I can think of. Charge full speed towards tanks and rip them open.

I currently have 6 windriders and a faseer on a jetbike lol.

Just starting the army. Just trying to figure out what I could pick up to mesh well with him. I am going to be running a wraithhost for sure in conjuction with the bikes.

Maybe a squad of wraithblades and a wraithlord with him?

I've heard Howling Banshees pair well with the Avatar but I haven't tried that myself.

I've used a Guardian Warhost with a warlock in each unit for the Ultwe fluff. Avatar served as a nice fearless bubble and counter assault threat.

If you are doing the Wraith Host, you should also do the WIndrider Host so that all the Wraiths get a guaranteed 6" run. That will basically give the Avatar a 12" move.
Have the Avatar, WraithLord, WrathKnight & a unit of 6+ Wraithblades move up and dominate CC, while the Bikes and 2 units of WraithGuard soften up targets or blast them off the board.

Sounds like a great idea! I guess that is the direction I will head in.
