Finally got to try out the game with my own models. Super fun time! I ended up just having a quick skirmish against the manager since it was a slow night my local GW and no one else was in for AoS, everyone was getting too psyched up about the Kill Team release...including me.

I brought...

10x Skeleton Warriors w/swords and standard bearer
1 Wight King with Baleful Tomb Blade
1 Necromancer
5x Hexwraiths

He had... (went really easy on me)
5x Putrid Rotbringers
1 Robringer Sorcerer

I remember hearing some people saying the Wight King isn't that great, I just got him because I love the model, but he really dished out the pain once he got into combat. That and being able to use his Lord of Bones command ability make him easily one of my favorites for what I have planned to do with my army. Like I said it was mostly a friendly game for him to teach me the rules and the like but I learned how deadly the Rotbringers can be, could only imagine how different it would have gone if he brought more! Also I am in love with Hexwraiths, I need to make sure I remember their ability to inflict mortal wounds by going through enemies. All in all was a great time and I can't wait to play again. I ended up picking up a Grave Guard unit and I'm currently making some Black Knights with some leftover pieces from the Skeleton Warriors starter kit.

I didn't come from a WFB background so I can't compare, but I really love how fast paced AoS plays.

I love the fast pace too. The trick is in remembering the abilities of each unit. As a Khorne Daemon player, I frequently forget the locus abilities (basically, any unit within 8" of a Khorne Daemon Hero gets something good) and as a result get punished. Sometimes, in my enthusiasm for combat, I forget the hero phase entirely.
