I LOVE campaigns... we are currently running a large-scale 3 sector campaign using the Forgeworld (horus heresy book 4) "Conquest" campaign system, which is really just amazing. You don't need to play 30K or the 30K-narratives to use it; in fact every game could be Kill Team style if you wanted and it'd work just fine, or some sort of escalation etc...

I wrote quite a bit about it in my blog haha... in fact with just that information and some of your own ingenuity (creating warzones) you could easily run that system without the HH4 book. This might help:

If you're looking for cool narrative ideas, I think this one is just perfect for a Kill Team campaign - it's from a BL "short":

The story is about:
Spoiler:

It talks about a Remembrancer who accompanied the Luna Wolves during the great crusades. She became famous for her picts and was eventually elevated to Imperial Saint - she is also recognized as the primary founder of the Imperial Cult 'religion' which sees the Emperor as a GOD. Before the heresy and the iron throne the Emperor staunchly resisted any such claims. At this point in the time-line however the imperial religion is well established.

A piece of photographic art depicting Horus Lupercal during the crusades, believed to be before he was corrupted; and the accompanying notes written by this remembrancer are up for auction on a normally quiet world. It's believed that her notes may single handedly undermine that concept that the Emperor is a GOD.

Inquisitor Eisenhorn turns up expecting this auction to draw some big name heretical players... and they do but... (that's all I'll say in case you want to read)

I think a very cool/fun base concept and I'm trying to write a campaign narrative for just this purpose using it myself!
